Season 1 of the show premiered in January 2025, and since then, there has been no news regarding its renewal or cancelation by Apple TV. According to reports, the status of the show is not officially confirmed yet. Read on to know more about these speculations.
Will there be a Prime Target Season 2?
According to some reports, the chances for a second season are low as Prime Target is a miniseries. However, Apple TV has revived a lot of shows based on its viewership and audiences. The eight-episode show was released on 22nd January 2025, with 2 episodes dropping the first day and the rest dropping weekly every Wednesday.
Steve Thompson, the creator of the show, in an interview with Deadline, expressed his wish for a renewal but also emphasised that "nothing can be assured, as of now".
"I’d love to think there would be one, but there are no assurances at this stage. We’ll see what happens with the response and see where it goes from here. Edward is now a rogue force. He has an extraordinary power and he’s out there in the world. So we teed it up and we’ll see what happens. We see him utilize it with his phone."
The show has received mixed reviews, with a 6.3/10 rating on IMDB. Some praise its unique concept and suspense, while others criticized its slow pacing and uneven plot.
How did season 1 of Prime Target end?

In the season 1 finale, Edward leaks his unique code that can help access the systems as a desperate move amidst escalating tensions and betrayals. This sets up a high-stake cliffhanger that can have huge consequences- a good setup for its new season. However, the story stands independent from what happened in season 1, therefore, nothing can be speculated strongly.
Throughout, Taylah tried to convince Edward to be a spy as she thought he could be a good asset to the department. However, Edward remains adamant about his wish to live a normal life as a mathematician.
