Kristin Kreuk's character, Cassandra, will have interesting storylines as well, like her political campaign and possibly having problems on the job with Karl.
Wachtel mentioned a new enemy may appear—the mayor whose tricky plans change how the town works.
While Season 2 will have a season-long mystery of multiple interconnected murders, it won't revisit the serial killer theme of the first season. Instead, the writers are working on a layered, long-term storyline focusing on solving decade-old unsolved cases.
Wachtel noted, “It’s a bit of a surprise who the baddie is.”

Even though the ending was great and the acting superb, Murder in a Small Town has stiffer competition. The initial episode drew 2.285 million viewers, and it wasn't easy to get this show into the top 25 shows for Fall 2024.
Its popularity on Hulu is a good thing, making it Fox's #1 new show and #3 overall on the streaming platform for the 2024-2025 TV season. Producers are playing strong moves on lead actors Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk.

This combination, along with its mix of regular parts of a crime story and emotional feelings, continues to appeal to viewers.
