Suits LA, the first spin-off of Aaron Korsh's original legal series, has finally launched its official teaser trailer. The trailer gives an exclusive peek into the new series set in Los Angeles.
While the teaser doesn't reveal much, except for glimpses of the main cast against the LA backdrop, the nostalgic 'Greenback Boogie' from the original show blares in the background.
Since its announcement, fans have been speculating about the original cast's return in the new spin-off. Putting some of these speculations to rest, Gabriel Macht, who played Harvey Specter in Suits for nine years, took to Instagram to announce that he will reprise his role.
It is confirmed that Macht will return for a three-episode arc to help out his 'old friend,' Stephen Amell's Ted Black, the protagonist of the spin-off show.
Since Macht's announcement, there have been many speculations about other cast members' returns, including Patrick J. Adams, Sarah Rafferty, and especially Meghan Markle.
While Adams showed interest in returning to the show with his co-star Markle, who played the role of Rachel Zane, a paralegal and Mike's wife on the show, there is no confirmation from the Duchess of Sussex.
While Markle's ties with the royal family hindered her return to the acting world, stepping down as working royals with her husband, Prince Harry, in 2020 could bring her back to LA for another outing with the Suits cast.
There has been no confirmation on Markle or any other cast return (except from Gabriel) for the spin-off, but fans can only speculate.
More about Meghan Markle's potential return in Suits LA.
Who did Meghan Markle play in the original Suits? Can she make a cameo with co-star Patrick J. Adams on Suits LA?
Before she joined the royal family and married Prince Harry to become the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle played Rachel Zane, a paralegal at Pearson Hardman, in Suits.
The show's viewers enjoyed her connection with Patrick J. Adams, who portrayed her romantic interest, Mike Ross. He recently showed interest in returning to Suits LA at the Golden Globes with her on-screen wife, Rachel.
"I think Meghan is a fantastic actress. We'd be lucky to have her back in the industry...Sure. Mike and Rachel in Seattle. They gotta come down to LA, they gotta fix some stuff.''
However, Meghan Markle left the show in Season 7 after she married Mike, and the couple left the show and is shown as moving to Seattle. While Adams returned as a guest star in the show's final season, Markle became a working Royal and married Prince Harry, ending her acting career.
Can Meghan Markle's stepping down as a working royal in 2020 pave the way for her cameo in Suits LA?
While Markle's admission into the royal family ended her acting career, her stepping down in 2020 with her husband, Prince Harry, could possibly pave the way for a Rachel Zane cameo in Suits LA.
She officially entered showbiz again in December 2023 with a commercial for the coffee brand Clevr and has also signed on with the global talent agency WME.
In an interview with Oprah in March 2021, Meghan Markle opened up about her plans to enter the industry again.
"But the entire culture has changed; streamers have changed things. The ability to create zeitgeist moments like we had in the '90s—where everyone would tune in at the same time for a show or gather for one moment—that doesn’t happen anymore."
While she did not mention anything clearly, she did mention 'Never say never' when asked about a possible comeback.
It is also worth considering that Markle currently lives in Montecito, California, with her husband and children. If she chooses to appear on the spin-off, this would make her commute to film for Suits LA very easy, and she would also stay close to her family.
Well, fans should also maintain the 'never say never' attitude and wait for the beloved actress to return.
Suits LA debuts on NBC on February 23, 2025.
