Surrounded by a lot of buzz, the Colombian thriller drama series Medusa Season 1 premiered on Netflix on March 5, 2025. The series follows the story of a failed assassination attempt on the newly appointed CEO Bárbara Hidalgo, who teams up with a detective to uncover the truth. During the investigation, Bárbara comes upon the secrets of her own dysfunctional family that she must now confront. The Netflix Colombian series has 12 episodes and is co-created by Said Chamie and Claudia Sánchez. The cast of the show includes Juana Acosta, Manolo Cardona, Laura Archbold, Sebastián Martínez, and Adriana Arango. The series is set in Barranquilla, Colombia.
What is Medusa About?
Bárbara Hidalgo, portrayed by Juana Acosta, hails from a powerful business family, who rule Colombia’s northern coast. She is appointed as the new CEO of the family’s company Medusa. To celebrate the new role, she goes on a solo sailing trip aboard a luxury yacht. When the yacht explodes, Bárbara manages to jump into the water in the nick of time.
Everyone assumes that Bárbara is dead. Detective Danger Carmelo, played by Manolo Cardona, is suspicious of the Hidalgo family who seem to be holding back details about the case. When Barbara miraculously comes back, she gets on a mission to find the truth, uncovering secrets about her own family with the detective.
