Mark Ghanimé's Cameron will not be a part of Virgin River Season 7
After the announcement for Virgin River Season 7, showrunner Smith confirmed in an interview with TVLine that Mark's Cameron will not be a part of the show's next season:
“He will always be a part of the world, and I would love to see his character back, but he won’t be a series regular in Season 7, unfortunately.”
On asked about the possibility of him returning in further seasons, Smith confirmed that he is still a part of the universe and can return:
“I would love and can definitely imagine several opportunities of how we could bring Cameron back into our world.”
Cameron got his closure with Muriel and is off to San Diego for now.
Who was Mark Ghanimé's Cameron on Virgin River?
Introduced in Virgin River Season 4, Mark Ghanimé's Cameron was a doctor who worked at Vernon Mullins' clinic. He shifted from San Diego after a breakup.
During his early appearances, he was positioned as a potential love interest for Mel, who was already dating Jack then. He also tries to break the couple apart, which upsets her to the extent that she leaves the practice.
With Mel gone, Cameron is asked to fill in for her and take on her other responsibilities, which he fails to do. However, he later gets a hang of things and earns his place in the town as a doctor.
Since his potential relationship with Mel does not work out, he finds a new love interest in Muriel, who joins Vernon's clinic as an office manager to help with the paperwork in Mel's absence.
Soon, her house is burned down, and with nowhere to go, Cameron offers Muriel his spare bedroom, and she moves in with him. The two start realizing that they are attracted to each other and begin a romance.
While Cameron was a series regular in Seasons 4 and 5, he was just a part of three episodes in Season 6, and it is no surprise that his character would not be a part of the next season.
In the latest season, he returns to his ex-girlfriend and leaves town to move to San Diego to be with her.
Virgin River Season 6 is now streaming on Netflix.
