Joseph Quinn has hinted that he might return as Eddie Munson in the final season of Stranger Things. The Netflix show premiered in 2016 and returned for its fourth season in 2022, with Eleven facing off against Vecna along with the rest of her gang.

Quinn's Eddie was one of the most popular characters, but he died a truly heroic death at the end of the Stranger Things season 4 finale. Fans are still hoping that he will return for the final season of the show.

Quinn was recently interviewed about Eddie's return. When asked whether Eddie would be coming back in season 5, Quinn had the most interesting answer. Speaking to ET, he said:

"I might have that feeling too. Or maybe I don't. I don't know! Who knows?"

How likely is it for Stranger Things Season 5 to bring back Joseph Quinn?

After being blamed for Chrissy's murder, Eddie finally finds his heroic streak when he kills Vecna with his guitar in the fourth season finale of this show. Unfortunately, it also ends up being fatal for him. It's really hard to imagine him coming back in Stranger Things Season 5 after such a murder.

The show has killed major supporting characters, but never its main characters. The deaths have been emotional for the fans and have helped the main characters grow. Bringing back Eddie would probably detract from the show's sense of reality and lower the stakes. So chances are high that the final season will not be taking such a dramatic turn.

They already faked Hopper's death in season 3. Spoofing Eddie will only make it feel repetitive.

How did Joseph Quinn's storyline end in Stranger Things Season 4?

Bidding goodbye to Joseph Quinn in Stranger Things has been one of the most difficult and important moments of season 4. At the very end, Eddie (Joseph Quinn) rescues Dustin Henderson, after which he picks up his guitar and plays a song by Metallica in a huge, memorable scene. Eddie knew that not everyone could survive in the Upside Down, so he wanted to be remembered as a hero by his friends. He knew how nervous and insecure he used to be, so he chose to be the opposite: brave and confident.

Eddie plays a heroic version of Metallica's Master of Puppets to distract the swarm of demobats heading for the Creel House. He stays behind to distract them and keep them busy enough for Dustin to escape through the gate. Sadly, Eddie is injured and dies before the demobats are all defeated.

It is difficult to accept Eddie's death, especially considering the amount of torture he and his friends witnessed. However, his story is vital in taking the larger plot forward. It shows how the citizens of Hawkins grow and learn with the evil in the Upside Down.

Eddie's death is a sad moment in Stranger Things, but it helps bring closure to Season 4 because it makes sense for the story and gives his character an organic ending.

It is difficult to say if and how Eddie will return to the show, before the new season drops. Stranger Things Season 5 will be available on Netflix sometime next year.
