As The White Lotus wrapped up its third season in a shocking finale, fans have already started waiting for the next season as a fourth installment of the Mike White series has been confirmed by HBO.
Despite being an anthology series that presents fresh stories in every season, some characters have appeared in multiple seasons, including Jon Gries’ Greg/Gary and Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda.
While Gries has been present in all three seasons, Rothwell was introduced in the first season and then came back in the third one. Talking about whether his character might come back again in season 4, Gries told The Hollywood Reporter that he actually does not have any idea about that and he did not even know that he would be back for season 2 and 3 as initially he was supposed to die in the very first season.
Gries added:
“So, there’s no trying to predict anything Mike White does. Yes, I would love to come back. But does the book on Greg seem like it’s complete? I can’t tell you.”
Let us now explore in detail what else Gries said about the possibility of him returning in The White Lotus Season 4 and what his co-stars think about the same.
Jon Gries seems to be a strong contender as a recurring character in The White Lotus Season 4
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, as the cast of The White Lotus discussed the characters who were most likely to come back in the next season, Gries naturally emerged as the first choice. Natasha Rothwell said,
“Jon is like the barnacle of The White Lotus ship, he stays around.”
She was supported by Walton Goggins who played the character of Rick, as he said,
“Obviously Jon. It feels like Jon is going to be in every season. Sorry if I gave that away.”
As for Gries himself, while he is not at all certain about his own return to the show, when he was asked for comments on co-star Charlotte Le Bon’s thoughts about him returning, he said,
“Well, you never know. She’s cagey. She's from Montreal.”
Besides Gries emerging as the top choice for a returning character, few cast members also think that Natasha Rothwell also has a solid chance of coming back as her character Bellinda was seen to be taking $5 million from Greg/Gary as a price for her silence. Carrie Coon, who plays Leslie, said,
“The odds are in her favor.”
To this, Tayme Thapthimthong, who plays Gaitok added,
“Belinda and her son because they started off something at the end there. And it could be them riding off into the sunset, but it also could mean something else for them, [where they] use that money to start something else.”
Rothwell herself is quite open to the idea of her character coming back as she said,
“I feel like Belinda is everyone and everyone is Belinda and so, maybe, selfishly, they want to be a part of it, through me.”
With all these ongoing speculations, nothing can be confirmed till Mark White or HBO officially confirms the characters of The White Lotus Season 4.
