One of Netflix's critically acclaimed anthology series Black Mirror Season 7 will soon arrive on our screens. While the exact release hasn't been announced, we do know that one of the characters whom many loved, won't be appearing.
Since its debut, Black Mirror hasn't shied away from exploring artificial intelligence, surveillance, and societal issues in thought-provoking sci-fi narratives. As for the upcoming Black Mirror Season 7, fans can expect more chaos and emotional tales.
Not only this, but the show's creator Charlie Brooke also teased "a little bit OG Black Mirror", which means the story will have disturbing elements but not overtly horror-centric stories. And what about the cast?
Since the new season will have a USS Callister sequel, many might wonder if Jesse Plemons will return as Robert Daly. As explained by Brooke, Plemons won't be appearing as Daly due to the character's death.
Yes, that's correct. Jesse Plemons' Robert Daly was definitively killed off in the original "USS Callister" episode from Season 4, which is why the character will be absent in the new season. The story has now moved beyond Daly’s control and torment, so there's no need for him to return.

As previously mentioned, Charlie Brooke confirmed Jesse Plemons' absence in the upcoming season. The creator said (via Wisconsin Public Radio):
"Well, Jesse Plemons, his character is dead, unfortunately. So not to spoil the first one! Yeah, he dies at the end of the first one, so he’s gone, but they’ve got to sort of press on."
He continued:
"It’s a nearly feature-length extravaganza. And we’ve got another feature-length episode elsewhere in the series. And like I say, quite a lot of emotion. You know, I just hope, as ever, I hope people like it."
Brooke mentioned Daly's fate in Season 4 Episode 1, due to which his appearance in Black Mirror Season 7 becomes impossible. However, the show will continue with the remaining new characters.
The creator also teased two feature-length episodes in Season 7 and said "There is a real mix of styles" and hopes for the audience to enjoy it.
