Dexter: Original Sin hinted at Ice Truck Killer's origin story
Before becoming the Ice Truck Killer of the original series, Brian Moser had a troubled past like his brother. As Dexter: Original Sin recently revealed, Brian and Dexter saw their mother's brutal murder in the Shipping Yard Massacre, which scarred them for life.
Brian was already a troubled individual, and seeing his mother's murder disturbed him further. While Harry took Dexter in, Brian was abandoned and sent to a mental institution because he displayed signs of Antisocial Personality Disorder.
Since Harry was having an affair with their mother, he thought it right to adopt both the children, but after Brain's outburst where he suffocated baby Debra with a pillow, Harry decided to send him away and adopt just Dexter.
Dexter: Original Sin revealed that this incident left a longing mark on Brian's mind and catalyzed his serial killer journey. After losing his mother, he just wanted to be reunited with his brother but was stopped, which prompted him to become a serial killer.
He took on a vengeful path and started killing people who separated him from his brother, like Barb, the social security worker.
Ice Truck Killer could potentially have his spin-off show after Dexter: Original Sin
The Ice Truck Killer was already a popular villain in the original series.
His efforts to reunite with Dexter even forced him to start a fake relationship with Debra, after which he was also ready to kill her.
His later killing method, where he would freeze his victims and let their blood drain out of their bodies, was an effort to trigger Dexter's memory about the Shipping Yard Massacre.
Considering he was such an essential part of the original series and having been featured in Original Sin, a spin-off series with the Ice Truck Killer would work well.
With only one episode left in Original Sin, the makers could not possibly show the whole story of the Ice Truck Killer, which is all the more reason that a spin-off would be befitting.
