House of David has been renewed for a fresh season following the massive success of Season 1. House of David Season 1 debuted on February 27, and the season finale was released on April 3, 2025, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. Created by Joe Erwin, the biblical series follows the historical story of the rise of King David, set in 1000 B.C. in Israel. It traces his journey from a humble shepherd to the King of Israel.
In Season 1, David, played by Michael Iskander, is portrayed as a young shepherd who is anointed to be the next King by the prophet Samuel. Additionally, viewers saw the fall of the House of Saul, headed by the greedy King Saul (Ali Suliman). Thus, David begins his journey of self-discovery while navigating several ups and downs. All this culminates in David fighting his first battle, in which he meets and knocks down the Philistine named Goliath.
In the House of David Season 1 finale, viewers see how bravely David uses a single shot from his sling to knock Goliath down, and later, he hits his forehead with a stone. David uses Goliath's sword to cut his head off. His battle with the giant Goliath did not just test his faith in the Divine but also established him as a brave warrior.
However, the fight for Israel's throne is not over. By the end of the season, Eshbaal, King Saul's prodigal son, tricks his family and places himself on the throne. In the upcoming season, viewers might be able to see how David finally becomes the King of Israel. However, it won't be an easy path for David. Eshbaal's interference and Queen Ahinoam's resistance will serve as a hindrance to his Kingship.
