Harley Quinn just wrapped up a fun-filled and chaotic Season 5, and speculations are already on about the next season.
Harley Quinn on Max follows the story of the titular DC comics character, and her adventures with fellow superheroes. At the end of Season 5, Harley (voiced by Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (voiced by Lake Bell) head to Gotham City after their Metropolis adventure. While the DC Universe is expanding, and the focus may shift to other shows, the speculations are rife if Harley Quinn will return to Max for Season 6.
The Season 5 finale saw Harley and Ivy come back to their apartment in Gotham city, giving a sense of closure. Dean Lorey, one of the series developers, spoke about the ending, and teased about the possibility of Season 6. As per Collider, Lorey said:
“We were only thinking about it mostly in the sense of not wanting it to feel too much like the end of the series, because we would like to do more. We realized that if the show were to end there, it was a nice ending for the show, but we have every intention of doing more, and we've done a lot of work figuring out what that will be. So, I hope we'll have some exciting news soon.”
Harley Quinn is an animated show based on the DC comics by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm. The show premiered in November 2019 and follows the adventures of Harley Quinn, who is on a quest of self-discovery after breaking up with Joker.
The series is developed by Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey. The voice for the characters on the show has been given by Kaley Cuoco, Lake Bell, James Wolk, Tony Hale and Stephen Fry, among others.
What happened in Harley Quinn Season 5?
Quinn and Ivy head to Metropolis for a fresh start on their relationship. The season added two new members to the cast — Brainiac (voiced by Stephen Fry) and Lena Luthor (voiced by Aisha Tyler). Quinn and Ivy get on with new adventures in the city, but at the end return to their apartment in Gotham.
Will there be a Season 6 of Harley Quinn?
Season 5 ended with a full-circle moment, giving it a feeling of completion. As the show’s fans speculate, the network has neither cancelled nor renewed Harley Quinn for Season 6 yet. The creators of the show are hopeful, while staying realistic about the future. Lorey shared:
“Well, I hope we stop one season before the wheels fall off. There's no overall plan. There really never has been, other than a very basic desire to keep Harley and Ivy together through thick and thin, but to allow them to grow and all that. But we do have a pretty wonderful idea for what Season 6 would be if we get so lucky. We're excited to continue.”
Whether Harley Quinn is renewed for Season 6 remains to be seen.
Harley Quinn is currently streaming on Max.
