Following the events of Squid Game Season 1, Gi-hun finally succeeded in returning to the deadly game. However, this time his fate is left uncertain after the revolution failed in the Season 2 finale, resulting in several deaths, including his best friend.

As seen in Squid Game Season 1, Gi-hun entered the mysterious competition to reunite with his daughter and pay off his debts. However, he doesn't know that the children's games are deadly, and he only has one option—win the competition.

Throughout the episodes, participants played multiple dangerous games to qualify for the next round, but not everyone could make it out alive, as losing the task means death. By the end of the season, everyone died except for Gi-hun, as he defeated Cho Sang-woo in the final round.

Now, in Season 2, Gi-hun is back to uncover the game's creator, seek justice for the lives lost so far, and recover from the trauma he has been dealing with. However, his plan didn't go well as the Front Man outsmarted Gi-hun and killed his closest allies in the game.

Following the chaos, many might wonder if Gi-hun will die in Squid Game Season 3 and how the series will wrap up. So, if you've been thinking the same, make sure to dive into this article and explore the speculations.

The much-awaited Squid Game Season 2 hit Netflix just before the year wrapped up, leaving fans on the edge of their seats and brimming with questions about what lies ahead. One of the biggest questions to be answered in Season 3 is whether Gi-hun will succeed in dismantling the game or will he die.

Considering his situation in the Season 2 finale, Gi-hun is expected to encounter more challenges as the competition hasn't ended, and the Front Man won't stop until Player 456 loses. He punished Gi-hun by killing Jung-bae (Player 390), highlighting the dangers of his actions.

Additionally, the shaman of the sea, Seon-nyeo, claims that Gi-hun has survived the deadly game so far because of the purpose he entered the game. As explained earlier, Gi-hun decided to return to the competition not only to expose the creators but to save as many players as he could.

However, considering the shaman's prophecy, Gi-hun might die in Squid Game Season 3 while saving a life, possibly Kim Jun-hui, who is pregnant. His potential death would serve as a powerful emotional climax for the series, inspiring the remaining players to fight for survival.

Since Squid Game Season 3 will serve as the finale of the series, Gi-hun is expected to eventually discover that Front Man was Player 001. He tricked Gi-hun in Season 2 and ruined his plan after closely monitoring it, but now that the stakes are even higher, Gi-hun will likely continue his fight.

Squid Game Season 2 ended with Gi-hun being captured by the masked soldiers after his rebellion didn't work. Additionally, the mid-credit scene introduced another huge doll alongside Young-hee, hinting at the Red Light, Green Light game becoming even more dangerous.

As for the release of Squid Game Season 3, creator Hwang Dong-hyuk shared in an interview with Variety that:

"I believe we will be announcing the launch date for Season 3 soon. I probably expect that to launch around summer or fall next year."

Not only this, but he also mentions Gi-hun being a very different person in the final chapter as fans will witness him in a more vulnerable and conflicted state. The creator also hinted at a changed form in the last season due to the rebellion in the Season 2 finale. Though Hwang Dong-hyuk didn't expand on the change, the post-credit scenes hint that the game will continue, but in a different way.
