ABC's newest sitcom, Shifting Gears, brings many familiar faces back to the sitcom scene, along with Last Man Standing's Tim Allen.

This multi-camera sitcom will mark Allen's return to sitcoms after three years, along with Kat Dennings of Two Broke Girls fame.

Disney star Brenda Song will appear as a guest star on the sitcom.

The pilot for the show was commissioned in March 2024, and the series will premiere on ABC on January 8, 2025.

The cast for Shifting Gears also includes some similar faces, such as Seann William Scott as Gabriel, Daryl Mitchell as Ed, Maxwell Simkins as Carter, and Barrett Margolis as Georgia.

Brenda Song is confirmed as a guest star on ABC's newest sitcom, Shifting Gears. She will reunite with one of her Dollface co-stars, Kat Dennings, on the show, who plays the role of Riley.

In addition, her appearance will also mark her reunion with showrunner and executive producer Michelle Nader, who also served as a showrunner on Dollface. The show was aired on Hulu.

Brenda will play the role of Caitlyn, one of Riley's high school friends, on the show. She is now an assistant principal of a school. While more details about her character are not yet confirmed, she will play a guest star on the show.

Brenda Song began her career as a child actor and worked as an actor and voice actor on many Disney projects, including The Ultimate Christmas Present and The Suite Life.

Her other film credits include The Social Network, Secret Obsession, and Love Accidentally. She has also appeared in sitcoms like New Girl, Dads, Pure Genius, and Station 19.


What is the plot and release date of Shifting Gears?

The official logline of the show reads as follows,

''Matt, a headstrong widower, is the owner of a classic car workshop. When his separated daughter and teenage children arrive at his house, the real restoration begins.''

Allen plays the role of a stubborn widower, Matt, who takes in his estranged daughter Riley (Dennings) and tries to rebuild his relationship with his daughter and grandchildren.

The family rediscovers their love for one another, and Riley gets a chance to help her father restore the old car workshop and their relationship in the process.

The sitcom will premiere on ABC on January 8, 2025, at 8 pm. Viewers can also catch it on Hulu.

Duncanville creators Mike and Julie Thacker Scully will serve as writers and executive producers for the show's pilot.

The cast also includes familiar faces from television and films. Scott, famous for his work on Welcome to Flatch, will reportedly play Matt's friend who helps him at the car restoration workshop.

Mitchell, known for her work on NCIS: New Orleans, will be a mechanic in Matt's workshop, also described as a former Marine.

Simkins and Margolis will play the roles of Riley's children and Matt's grandchildren on the show.
