What we know about Dexter's prequel other than Original Sin
Another spinoff that focuses on John Lithgow's character Arthur, aims to explore his younger years and the events that shaped his life. It will include details about Mitchell's traumatic childhood such as the tragic death of his sister Vera and their abusive upbringing along with his mother's suicide. Therefore, the series will cover what has led to his destructive tendencies and made him the most formidable one in the Dexter Universe.
Trinity is seen as Dexter's equal in the show and Dexter admires him for his ability to be a serial killer as well as a family man. The script of the series is written by the original Dexter showrunner Clyde Phillips and series writer Scott Reynolds according to a report by Deadline.
Recently Philips confirmed in an interview that John Lithgow who won a Primetime Emmy Award for playing Mitchell has now agreed to voice the younger version of the character in the spinoff. John's character will be somewhat similar to that of Michael C. Hall in Original Sin.
What are the Dexter franchise plans for 2025?
In 2025, with the conclusion of Dexter: Original Sin, Michael C. Hall will soon re-appear on the screen reprising his role in the New Blood sequel series Dexter: Resurrection. The series is set to release during the summer of 2025.
Dexter: Ressurection will be a continuation of New Blood that ended with Dexter Morgan's death and explore how the character survived. Original Sin opens with doctors making Dexter's heartbeat again and concluding that the cold saved him. Now in the prequel, Dexter looks back to his younger self and the events unfold from there. It further sets up for Resurrection. The sequel is meant to be closely intertwined with Dexter's prequel Original Sin.
"In the beginning of Resurrection, the doctor says to Dexter, 'Had you been shot in the summertime, you'd be dead, but you were shot in zero-degree weather. And we ripped you open, and were able to get you minutes before you died," Phillips explained to TV Insider.
The ongoing premiere of Original Sin has attracted 2.1 million global viewers across Paramount+ and Showtime in the first 3 days of the release. New episodes of Original Sin are dropping every Friday on Paramount + and will conclude on February 14 with a finale. Therefore, Dexter is currently Showtime's most-viewed series and the franchise has all the plans to keep up the work.
