Daredevil: Born Again, it was officially announced, would include heavy MCU crossovers. However, there is no hint yet to suggest the entry of a major hero. The presence of the Punisher (played by Jon Bernthal) and a guest appearance by Yusuf Khan (father of Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel) display a comprehensive integration into the Marvel Cinematic Universe but speculations concerning characters like Spider-Man or Jessica Jones have remained unsubstantiated so far.

Vincent D'Onofrio, who plays Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, spoke to TV Insider about how initial plans did not include any crossovers from the original Netflix series, Daredevil. D'Onofrio said:

"It originally wasn’t going to be at all, but now it’s a lot."

While the initial plans were different, TV Insider confirms Cox as saying that fans can expect crossovers in Born Again:

There is “a lot” of crossover, Cox confirmed.

Daredevil aired three seasons from 2015 to 2018. It remains to be seen how extensive the possible crossovers from the original show willl be in Born Again. The focus, after all, is not so much on overarching Avengers-based storylines.

Confirmed MCU crossovers in Daredevil: Born Again

Here are a couple of appearances in Daredevil: Born Again:

Punisher: Jon Bernthal's return as the vigilante ties the show to earlier Daredevil storylines, and solidifies the street-level hero's presence within the MCU.

Yusuf Khan: The cameo of Kamala Khan's father in the show hints at potential connections to Ms. Marvel and The Marvels.

These cameos are in sync with Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio's assertion that the show will have heavy MCU connections, which weren't originally planned.

Speculation on the main hero teases

Although rumors point to Spider-Man, Jessica Jones, or Hawkeye, there has been no official confirmation on any of these appearances. Instead, the series is more likely to introduce directly or include oblique nods to characters like:

White Tiger: The character has been hyped in trailers, which could again contribute to Daredevil's street-level hero roster.

Other street-Level characters: Possible crossovers featuring heroes like Echo or new heroes who appear in Marvel Spotlight initiatives.

The emphasis on street-level storylines

Unlike Avengers-related productions, Daredevil: Born Again features a crime-oriented, grounded narrative. This is true to the tone of the show, and could set the stage for subsequent collaborations with:

  • Other vigilantes who operate within New York's underworld.
  • Criminal syndicates that overlap with several MCU figures.
  • Possible law enforcement or legal system ties that expand Daredevil's universe.
  • Expanding the MCU Through Daredevil: Born Again.

The integration of the show into the MCU implies a long-term plan to enhance ties between Disney+ shows and theatrical releases. Its potential implications are:

  • Creating richer backstories for street-level characters.
  • Positioning future team-ups or showdowns within the MCU.
  • Emphasizing Marvel's commitment to crime-oriented storylines in future projects.

While Daredevil: Born Again has been confirmed to feature major MCU crossovers, there is little concrete evidence of other major hero teases aside from the Punisher and Yusuf Khan. The reports of Spider-Man, Jessica Jones, or Hawkeye are currently speculative. The show will mainly center on Daredevil's immediate narrative while cementing Marvel's street-level storytelling in the MCU.
