Wednesday is a spin-off of the original Addams Family and brings to Netflix a riveting account of the eponymous daughter of Gomez and Morticia from the Tim Burton-led original show. While the debut season of Wednesday on Netflix focused rather exclusively on the titular character, the upcoming sophomore season is speculated to include the contributions of the other beloved members of the Addams Family, such as Gomez and Morticia, along with their other children.

Gomez actor Luis Guzman recently spoke with ScreenRant while promoting his new film Havoc and dropped a confirmation that the upcoming second season of the show will feature more of the Addams family.

Here's everything we know about what's in store for the second season of Wednesday.

What did Luis Guzmán say about Wednesday season 2?

Guzman presented a hopeful picture of the second season of Wednesday on Netflix, which will have the titular character spending her time at the Nevermore Academy. The exciting news is that she would be joined by the other members of the Addams family. Guzman noted:

"Oh, absolutely. I thought the first season was amazing, and I'm telling these guys, “How are you going to top this?” They went not into a different orbit or universe–they went into a different galaxy. You know what I'm saying? I tipped my hat to these guys, man, because they create a vision, and [there’s] Tim Burton, and, wow, man. It's all about the writing, and you have the most incredible, talented, gifted group of actors, and it just all works. That's all I'm going to say."

While Guzman did mention that the showrunner has shifted gears for the second season and gone into a "different galaxy", he didn't specifically mention any other details. It is fair to say that the Netflix show would certainly gain much from the participation of such popular characters from the Addams family, such as Pugsley, Morticia, and Gomez.

Creators open up about the show

Following the successful reception of Netflix's show's debut season, creators Miles Millar and Al Gough had spoken to The Hollywood Reporter about their idea behind creating the titular character and drawing inspiration from the original show. When asked the inspiration to create a show based on the character of Wednesday, Gough explained:

"It was a character that we all really loved, and nobody had spent a lot of time with. And it’s a character we’d only seen really as a 10-, 11-, 12-year-old, who is part of a family and would have a funny line in the scene, but we didn’t know much about her. Her sort of fearlessness and her ability to always be herself with something, that was interesting, and we thought, well, “What if she was a teenage girl? And then what if you took her out of the family and put her in boarding school, which is ostensibly a new family? How would she react?”

Wednesday season one is exclusively available on Netflix.
