Netflix’s new hit drama, Adolescence, is being loved by viewers and critics alike. The British crime drama was created and written by Jack Thorne (Toxic Town) and Stephen Graham, who also stars as Eddie Miller in the show.
The four-part series was released on March 13, 2025. Netflix hasn’t announced a second season of Adolescence, as it is described as a limited series.
Adolescence follows the heartbreaking story of the Miller family after their teenage son, Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper), is accused of murdering his classmate, Katie. The limited series depicted modern masculinity and the impacts of incel culture on young boys.

Will there be an Adolescence season 2? Speculations explored
As the show successfully concludes the story, there might not be a Season 2 of Adolescence. Netflix has not yet shared any news of renewing the show.
Actor and co-creator Stephen Graham also stated that the story started and ended in Jamie’s bedroom. In a Netflix interview, he said:
"We knew that we wanted to end it in that room. We wanted the journey to finish where it began. This is where the person who Jamie became was created."
Adolescence depicts the story of the challenges faced by the Miller family when Cooper’s Jamie is accused of murder. It shows the audience how the parents deal with the news when their 13-year-old son is labeled as a murderer.
Furthermore, Jamie Miller’s story also showcased society’s major challenges, such as the online incel culture, which was the reason behind Katie’s murder.
More about Netflix's Adolescence
While the miniseries is not based on a true story, it is inspired by real-life knife crime incidents taking place in England. While talking to Netflix, Stephen Graham said:
"There was an incident where a young boy [allegedly] stabbed a girl. It shocked me. I was thinking, ‘What’s going on? What’s happening in society where a boy stabs a girl to death? What’s the inciting incident here?’ And then it happened again, and it happened again, and it happened again. I really just wanted to shine a light on it, and ask, ‘Why is this happening today? What’s going on? How have we come to this?’"
They also wanted to reflect on the problem of online incel culture, masculinity, and male rage in today’s youth and also questioned themselves as the men in society.
In the same Netflix interview, writer and creator Jack Thorne shared how new the experience of writing the series was and the excitement it instilled in him. He said:
"That is a journey I’ve never gone on as a writer before, and it scared me and excited me because it felt like we had something to say."
Other than Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper, the limited series also stars Christine Tremarco, Erin Doherty, and Ashley Walters.
