One of the most popular TV shows, Young Sheldon, brought to the audience and fans of The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon Cooper, a very smart but socially inept kid. The series is set between the late 1980s and early 1990s, showing the life and journey of the teenager to becoming the character he is in the original series.
Though Sheldon's friends and family are the central figures in his life, two youth pastors are also featured on the show and have a relevance in Cooper's life. Pastor Jeff Difford (Matt Hobby) was brought in from chapter one of the prequel and was frequently shown discussing religion with Sheldon.
Yet Sheldon, being the skeptical and logical thinker, never hesitated to challenge the pastor. Later on, Young Sheldon featured Pastor Rob (Dan Byrd) in Season 5, who, in contrast to Pastor Jeff, is unconventional in teaching.
Although these characters assisted in delving into Sheldon's childhood interactions, Pastor Rob or the youth pastor departed from the show in Young Sheldon Season 6. Although there was no particular reason, the pastor probably took the job offer at First Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas, and his increasing closeness with Mary and conflict with George Cooper resulted in his departure.

Who was the youth pastor in Young Sheldon?

Although Iain Armitage's Sheldon Cooper is the center of Young Sheldon, his life would not have been complete without the existence of characters such as Pastor Jeff and Pastor Rob. As previously stated, the two pastors were quite different from one another and entered the prequel at various times.
Pastor Rob made his debut in season 5 as the youth pastor of the First Baptist Church of Medford. He was recruited to direct the Sunday School, and because of Rob's dynamic method of teaching Christianity, he soon gained popularity among children, including Missy, Billy, and even Sheldon.
Over time, Pastor Rob developed a great working bond with Sheldon's mother, Mary Cooper, and always supported her when she needed help. As seen in the prequel, Mary grew closer to Pastor Rob, which didn't go unnoticed by her husband, George Cooper.
Even though there was nothing but respect, George doubted there was something more than a working relationship between Mary and Pastor Rob. Just before Pastor Rob suddenly disappeared from Young Sheldon, he informed Mary about a new job at the First Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Pastor Rob's departure from Medford appeared to be an unspoken acknowledgment of the tension his presence had caused. Though he disappeared without an explanation, it's believed that Pastor Rob accepted the offer and moved to Arkansas.
Did Pastor Rob appear in the Young Sheldon finale?
No, Pastor Rob didn't appear in the emotional finale of Young Sheldon in which fans had to bid farewell to Sheldon's father, George Cooper. His absence from the finale suggests Pastor Rob truly respected the Cooper family, and moving to Arkansas, he ensured there was no more tension and chaos.
