The Voice, the singing competition series, is heading to the next round as the blind auditions and knockout rounds have concluded. With the playoff round just around the corner, the viewers were excited to see the remaining artists perform on stage. However, this week the Playoffs premiere was delayed as a special episode to reflect on the season was released instead.

According to Just Jared, the main reason behind this delay is to distribute the episodes evenly till the planned finale date, which has not been announced yet.

On April 21, 2025, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET, a special episode was aired in which viewers got a sneak peek into the upcoming playoffs. The guests who will be joining the show include mentors Sheryl Crow and LeAnn Rimes.

A special season 27 episode titled Road to Playoffs was aired exclusively on NBC on Monday, April 21, 2025. The episode 13 description states:

"A look back at the season's best performances, plus a sneak peek at mega mentors Sheryl Crow and LeAnn Rimes."

The Voice season 27 Playoff premiere will air on April 28, 2025, on NBC

The Voice season 27 Playoffs premiere was rescheduled to next Monday, April 28, 2025. On April 21, 2025, the two-hour episode was released; however, it didn't consist of any performances by the selected contestants. The special episode focused on reflecting on the journey of each artist from their selection in the blind auditions to them making it to the Top 20.

It was a recap of season 27 so far, as viewers got a glimpse into what they can expect from the upcoming episodes. Meanwhile, The Voice season 27 Playoffs will not be released this Tuesday but will continue with the competition series from April 28, 2025, onwards. The premiere episode is set to air at 8/7c exclusively on NBC.

After this delay, fans can expect to see the remaining 20 artists receiving guidance and mentorship from guest judges. Sheryl Crow and LeAnn Rimes will be joining the show to share their learnings with the singers who have made it this far in the competition. Crow previously performed on The Voice season 8 finale, while Rimes has been a coach on The Voice UK and The Voice Australia.

However, for the coaches, it would be a difficult decision to make, as they will have to choose two artists from their respective teams to head to the next round. The upcoming episode synopsis mentions

"The coaches enlist the help of Mega Mentors Sheryl Crow and LeAnn Rimes to advise their remaining artists as they hold nothing back during the playoffs; tough decisions are made when each coach can only advance two artists to the live shows."

New episodes air every week on Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT exclusively on NBC and the next day on Peacock TV.
