Arcane Season 2 Act II is on its way, and before delving back into action, many would wonder about Silco's decision to prioritize Jinx over his nation, Zaun. Given Silco's sinister nature, it was unusual for him to suddenly adopt a daughter during the chaos in Arcane Season 1, but there's a deep reason behind his choice.

Based on the famous League of Legends video game, Netflix's animated series Arcane follows the journey of two sisters, Violet and Powder, who later transform into Vi and Jinx. At the heart of the story is the difference and chaos between the twin cities Piltover and Zaun, which deeply affected the two sisters and threw them into a complicated relationship.

It began with Violet and Powder becoming orphans during a massive conflict between the twin cities and later adopted by Vander, the father figure to the little girls, until his death. In Season 1, Powder unknowingly became one of the contributors to Vander's death in episode 3, which led Viloet to call her a "jinx" as they lost Vander.

Violet abandoned Powder after the tragic incident as she believed Powder caused Vander's death. However, it was Silco, the crime lord of Zaun, who stabbed Vander and killed him. Now that Powder was left all alone, Silco comforted her by saying they'll together show them all.

In all this, Silco sees Jinx as a symbol of everything he values about Zaun, influencing his decision to prioritize her.

Before Powder aka Jinx's adoptive father, Silco (who is now dead in the series) was Zaun's crime lord, known for his exceptional master plans. He was introduced to viewers in the first chapter and was seen as a highly chaotic personality.

When Violet abandoned Powder after Vander's death, Silco adopted her. Silco accepted Powder's flaws and loved her transformation into Jinx. He prioritized Jinx over Zaun because Silco knew she was an element of the nation, for which she's now becoming a ray of hope in Arcane Season 2.

While talking about Silco's love for Jinx, actor Jason Spiksak, who voiced Silco in Arcane, said:

"She is the embodiment of the nation of Zaun... it's a broken place... there's power in chaos... to him, she is an element of Zaun and his love for the place embodied in a daughter "

Spiksak explained that Silco loves how Jinx represents everything about Zaun. The crime, unpredictability, and chaos in Zaun are what Jinx represents. For Silco, chaos is power. Silco's love for Jinx goes beyond his affection.

In his eyes, Jinx symbolizes everything he values about Zaun, which plays a significant role in his decision. It wasn't just about the fatherly affection but how his adoptive daughter embodied the features of his nation.

Why did Jinx kill Silco in Arcane Season 1?

Though Silco was one of the biggest suppliers of Shimmer (a dangerous substance that transforms a human into a monster) and ruled the crime world, he was crucial for Zaun's survival amid the conflict with Plitover. By the end of Arcane Season 1, Silco tried to offer a hand for peace with Piltover and met Jayce.

He presented the list of his demands, and Jayce accepted them all. However, Jayce only asked for Jinx in return, as she had committed various crimes. Upon hearing about the deal, Jinx assumed that her second adoptive father was going to trade her with Jayce.

Feared by abandonment once again, Jinx took Silco with him in a meeting with Vi, her elder sister. A chaotic situation arose when Silco reached Jinx's gun, and she thought he was going to kill Vi. But before anything happens to her sister, Jinx kills Silco.

In his final moments, Silco revealed to Jinx that he would never abandon her and had always planned to keep her under his wings. Heartbroken, Jinx couldn't stop tears from her eyes, and Silco said:

"Don't cry. You're perfect."

Silco's last words for his adoptive daughter not only comforted her but also encouraged her to embrace her identity.

Silco's only plan in Arcane was to make Zaun independent and a flourishing place. Now that he's dead, and Powder chose to remain Jinx, she's at the helm after Silco's death played a major role in shifting Zaun's position.

Arcane Season 1 Act I ended with the post-credit scene hinting at the arrival of a monster, possibly Vander after his transformation. So don't forget to catch up with Act II, arriving on November 17, 2024, on Netflix.
