Australian investor and Shark Tank panelist Jane Lu recently shared a TikTok video featuring what she called the "worst job application ever." On Thursday, October 24, 2024, the multimillionaire shared a video and read out the resume she had received for the post of assisting her with her business course.
Jane Lu could be seen reading the resume she mentioned as being prepared by "ChatGPT copy and paste." The Australian Shark Tank star Jane Lu shared in the video,
"I think this is potentially the worst job application ever."
Shark Tank Australia panelist Jane Lu opens up about the "worst" application she had received
The Showpo CEO shared details from the said resume, and she also pointed out that it lacked many points and that the applicant paid no attention to details.
The application stated,
"I am confident that my experience in (relevant experience/skill) positions me as a strong candidate."
It showed how essential details such as relevant experience and skills were not mentioned, as the candidate was supposed to add those details manually. Some other crucial details, such as "specific projects, courses or initiatives," were also left blank.
With years of experience building her business empire, Jane Lu immediately learned how the application was not carefully crafted but prepared via an AI platform.
Additionally, while the application/ resume lacked much vital information, the cover letter also mentioned some things that an experienced professional could easily make out for what it was. On top of that, the job application also had a section of the response generated by the AI tool/ platform. It read:
"Here is a more polished and articulate version of your cover letter."
Reading such an AI response, which is usually generated by an AI platform, the Shark Tank investor was shocked.
"(The candidate) copy and pasted this thing that's, like, half-filled," shared Jane in the video.
The business mogul also mentioned how she "loves" tools such as ChatGPT; however, she mentioned that while using such AI platforms and tools, candidates need to (pointing towards the head) use this, i.e., head.
On the application for one of her business courses, Jane Lu also mentioned that the applicant didn't proofread the application and neglected to mention many essential details from the resume.
Referring to the efforts that were "none" by the applicant, Lu shared,
"All they changed was their name."
Later in the video, the Shark Tank panelist called out the candidate by their name, i.e., Benjamin. Jane Lu openly expressed her sympathy for Benjamin and said she loves using artificial intelligence tools, but with a few of her own insights. The LazyCEO Podcast host could be seen laughing at the resume.
