Dexter: Original Sin Episode 7 just made a shocking revelation about Jimmy Powell's killer. Jimmy is the 10-year-old son of a Miami Judge, and he was kidnapped in Episode 2, followed by The Miami Police finding his body in Episode 4.
After Captain Aaron Spencer's son Nicky was also kidnapped, the department confirmed that the events were linked to the cartel. Spencer was sure that the cartel was after these kidnappings because he and Powell helped put them away, and they were taking revenge on them by killing their children.
But in Episode 7, Dexter discovered that Jimmy's killer is none other than Spencer. Dexter: Original Sin had earlier hinted that Spencer may have kidnapped his own child, but his motives might be revealed in the upcoming episode.
Dexter's discovery explains Spencer's absence from the main show, as Dexter may end up killing him after uncovering that he is a child killer.
More on Captain Spencer in Dexter: Original Sin in our story.
Dexter: Original Sin Episode 7 shows why Captain Spencer was not in the main show
Dempsey's character was introduced in Dexter: Original Sin as Captain Aaron Spencer of the Miami Police Department. Since his introduction to the show, many fans have wondered why he was not in the main show if he was the Captain of the Department. In addition, he was not even mentioned once in the original series.
Thomas Matthews takes over his place, and it is as if Spencer never existed. However, Episode 7 clears that mystery by showing that Dexter discovers that Spencer is Jimmy's killer.
Dexter's shocking discovery directly puts Spencer on his radar, and we might see him on his killing table under a knife soon. Since Spencer is a manipulative child killer, Dexter will likely kill him in the upcoming episodes, which explains why he was not a part of the main show.
But first, Dexter might have to get Harry's approval and some solid evidence against him, which might not be too hard for our protagonist. It would be interesting to see what fate he would choose for him.
How did Dexter discover that Spencer was the killer in Dexter: Original Sin
Dexter: Original Sin gave all its fans a shocking twist by revealing that it was none other than Captain Spencer who killed Jimmy and kidnapped his own son Nicky. But in Episode 7, Dexter discovers that the killer is hiding in plain sight.
While investigating the box in which they received Nicky's finger, Dexter found some droplets on the box, and being a blood spatter analyst, it is his job to look for blood evidence. Being the observant person he is, Dexter sees Captain's nervousness when mentioning the blood spatter and immediately doubts him.
In addition, he also sees a cut on his wrist and a bandage wrapped on it, which Nicky gave his kidnapper in the cell. While the show has confirmed for the audience that Captain Spencer is the killer, Dexter may need to find some solid evidence, as all of these can be negated as circumstantial.
But since Dexter knows a thing or two about living double lives, he will soon find new evidence and prove that Spencer is the killer.
