Netflix is gearing up to deliver the upcoming fourth season of The Lincoln Lawyer. However, despite the anticipation, there is a sour note as Yaya Dacosta's Andrea Freeman will not be returning for the fourth season of The Lincoln Lawyer. Dacosta was one of the best and well-developed characters throughout the second and third seasons of The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix, and she also served as Mickey Haller's romantic interest.
Although the two first met as opposing counsels, they quickly developed a deep bond that brought out the best in each of them. Unfortunately, the character isn't a part of the book on which the upcoming fourth season is based on and therefore won't be focused upon. Here's everything that we know.
Why won't Andrea Freeman return to The Lincoln Lawyer season 4?
The character of Andrea Freeman was a prominent part of the book The Fifth Witness, written by author Michael Connelly, and based on which the second season of The Lincoln Lawyer was made. The subsequent third season featured her as an important character however, her role wasn't backed by the source material.
Now, as the fourth season, which is based on Connelly's The Law of Innocence, seeks to edge closer to the source material, the showrunners have finally taken the difficult decision to let Andrea Freeman go. It is still important to have a proper exit for her character, though, and we can expect a background reference or a phone call to her in the upcoming season just to bring things to a conclusion for the character.
In a recent interview with TVInside, Yaya Dacosta spoke about her character's exit from the show:
"Andrea’s absence was not expected or explained to the audience. Sometimes when things like this happen, the writers will give an explanation in a conversation between two characters who are on the show. Or someone will make a phone call and pretend the disappeared character is on the other end. Who knows what they’ll do? I’m just focusing on the now and future.”
When asked if she was satisfied with how things turned out for her character on the Netflix show, Dacosta answered:
"My satisfaction is irrelevant. I have faith in the ultimate divine plan for my career and for my life.”
Allyn Moriyon speaks about The Lincoln Lawyer
The third season of the Netflix show saw Allyn Moriyon stealing hearts with his impressive portrayal of Eddie Rojas, who was Micky Haller's new chauffeur. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tudum last year, Moriyon opened up at length about his character. When asked about how he came to be associated with the show, Moriyon recalled:
"When I first saw the script I was like, “The Lincoln Lawyer?! Let’s go! Huge fan.” And for Eddie specifically, I was like, “Oh man. They want the beefiest dude there is.” But what was fun about the audition was that it was a really meaty scene for Eddie. When you’re a Latino male, you often get these strong, buff characters, and it’s easy to go into that stereotype. But I was like, “Wait a second. Let me throw myself into it.” Because I still fit the character. I still fit the description."
The Lincoln Lawyer is exclusively available on Netflix.
