Stakes in Apple TV's Silo Season 2 keeps on getting higher with every episode. While Juliette is out there fighting to seek a chance to escape and get word to the rest of the people, Mechanical is on a rebellion of its own against Bernard and the IT.
While the group was able to solve their food problem in Episode 6, thanks to Teddy, Shirley, and Knox, the problem was far from over as they realized that they had a mole at their hand.
Frances and others were quick to reveal that Maeve was the one who poisoned their food on Bernard's orders, and she also placed the order to kill Shirley and Knox.
While Maeve was the real culprit in Silo Episode 7, who almost jeopardized the lives of the Mechanical, she had reasons of her own. She was fearful that Bernard would harm her ailing mother, so she had to poison their food and comply with his every dirty demand.
More on Maeve's dilemma in Silo Season 2 Episode 7 in our story.
Why did Maeve poison her group in Silo Season 2 Episode 7?
Things in the Mechanical were not going great in Silo Season 2, Episode 7, as the people were trying to find the mole who poisoned their food and did Bernard's dirty work for him. While everybody seems to be investigating on their own, Kathleen informs Paul and Hanks about what is going on in the cafeteria.
Frances and many other people question Maeve because they are suspicious that she is the mole and has poisoned their food on Bernard's orders. While Maeve denied all these allegations, suggesting that she was the one who warned them about the poison, Frances was certain that Maeve was the real culprit.
Upon some more questioning by Shirley, Knox, and Hanks, Maeve eventually agrees to all the allegations and comes clean about poisoning their food, but she has a solid reason for it.
It looks like her ailing mother was in the medical, under the control of Bernard and the IT, and if Maeve had not acted on their orders, they would have hurt her mother. So, out of fear for her mother's life, she poisoned the food but did warn Shirley and Knox so that nothing would happen to them.
How did the Mechanical solve their food crisis in Silo Season 2?
Maeve warning the group about poisoned food would have saved their life, but that did not solve their problem as the people were still starving. Bernard's scheme seemed to be working but the deep downers were not ready to give up just yet.
At first, the people inside the Silo 17 show unity, and the higher-level people sent their leftover food down the trash chute so that at least the children could be fed. But Bernard was ready for this retaliation and ordered the IT to block all the chutes. He really is the devil, no?
With their leftovers also cut off, the Mechanical came up with a different plan, and Teddy, Shirley, and Knox gathered together to put all their strength into pushing the guard's barricade, which moved up a few levels and gave them access to everything below Level 120 in Silo 17. Victory, at last.
This included the full-fledged farm at Level 122, and like that, the group solved their food problem, and they now have a fresh supply of produce to feed themselves.
