Silo season 2 continues the dystopian future world that first appeared on Apple TV+ with the show's debut season. While Silo season 1 ended with Juliette's rebellion and exit from the vault, season 2 of Silo focuses on two key areas i.e. the consequence of Juliette's rebellion on the other members of the Silo and the way in which Bernard tries to impose his control and Juliette's life in the outside world.

Episode 2 of Silo Season 2 offered a remarkable twist in the sense that the character of Judge Meadows, played by Tanya Moodie, considers going out of the Silo.

This comes as an unexpected turn of events since season 1 depicted Meadows as someone who was quite authoritarian and who worked hard to ensure that the residents of the vault swore their allegiance to Bernard. She is also a part of The Judicial and has a certain degree of punitive authority.

Despite her position in the world of the vault, Judge Meadows longs for her freedowm and the ability to uphold her own free will. She is missing these under Bernard's watchful eyes and therefore following Juliette's exit, she too considers herself to be an impostor and wishes to go out into the world outside.

Here's everything we know.

Judge Meadow's reasons to go out in Silo Season 2 explained

In the aftermath of Juliette's rebellion, Bernard tries his best to consolidate his authority in the vault. By the end of episode 2, he has already tried to convince Judge Meadows to be by his side as he dishes out a speech for the citizens. He also tries to talk her into being his heir so that he can leave the position of power to her if things go awry for him.

What Meadows does next surprises Bernard. She states that she has a sense of clarity now and all she wants is to go out. To attest to the veracity of her statement, she adds that she has dumped her allocated alchohol and wishes nothing else other than to go out into the outside world.

It is naturally deduced that like the other citizens of the vault, Judge Meadows has had her share of the oppresive lifestyle in the vault. The alchohol which she was in the habit of consuming was just a coping aid that helped her retain some sanity in the harsh world of the vault.

Although she does not have all the answers to her questions at the moment, she realizes that the outside world isn't as toxic as the authorities claim to be. Therefore once Juliette makes good on her escape with the new heat tape, Judge Meadows feels that she too can make her own escape and leave the vault behind.

Silo Season 2 parrallels with The Wizard of Oz

The narrative of season 2 of the Apple TV+ shares many similarities with The Wizard of Oz written by L. Frank Baum and this was highlighted when Meadows showed a copy of the story to Bernard, stating that the eponymous Wizard was nothing other than a master of deceit who would fool his victims with smoke and mirrors, and submit them to his authority.

Meadows further adds that she feels like the Wizard at times since despite being a part of The Judicial, she seems to have little or no power to change things.
