Following the original hit American crime drama Dexter, Paramount+ Showtime has come up with Dexter: Original Sin, a new TV series that dives into the early life of the iconic vigilante killer Dexter Morgan. It revolves around Dexter's transformation journey after he's adopted by a police officer Harry Morgan.
Dexter's life is shaped by the trauma of witnessing his mother's brutal murder as a child, a tragic event known as the Shipping Yard Massacre. However, he wasn't alone during the tragic incident as Harry found two boys— Dexter and his biological brother Brian Moser, covered in blood in a shipping container.
Since Dexter: Original Sin has just begun, the prequel hasn't dived into the story of Dexter's biological brother, but it did mention that Harry had a son before who died of drowning. Interestingly, he was the same age as Dexter, which might have led the police officer to only adopt Dexter and leave his elder brother Brian.
However, this is what we see in Dexter: Original Sin Episode 1, and in the original series, Harry believed that Brian was too old to come out of the loss of his mother and lead a normal life. On the other hand, Dexter was just 3 and had the potential for protection and guidance despite his emerging dark tendencies. As a result, Harry made a tough choice to only take care of Dexter as his son.

Did Dexter Morgan's biological brother Brian appear in Dexter: Original Sin?
No, Dexter Morgan's biological brother Brian hasn't appeared in Dexter: Original Sin so far, but who knows if the series will introduce him in future episodes. The prequel did mention Harry's biological son Junior, which might have ignited curiosity among viewers to explore Dexter's biological relations.
As previously mentioned, Dexter had a brother named Brian, who was found to be mentally unstable and wasn't adopted by Harry Morgan. While Dexter got a new life and family, Brian was sent to a mental institution. This is when his transition into a dark and violent personality began as Brian was later diagnosed with Antisocial Personality Disorder.
This condition prevented him from controlling his violent urges and as a result, he was kept until he turned 21. Soon after his release, Brian sought out Dexter. However, instead of a heartfelt reunion, Brian had transformed into the Ice Truck Killer, filled with rage, hatred, and desperation to get his younger brother's attention.
Since Dexter: Original Sin is exploring Dexter Morgan's early days, it hasn't revealed details about Brian's transformation and fate.

Exploring Brian Moser's dark path which contrasts with his brother in Dexter: Original Sin
As seen in Dexter: Original Sin, Harry has formed a code that his adoptive son needs to follow when killing someone— only killing those who escaped justice. However, in the original series, Dexter's biological brother Biran Moser took a different path.
After his release from the mental institution, Brian took on the alias Rudy Cooper and worked as a prosthetics specialist. He seemed to be leading a normal life, but in reality, his violent tendencies were always lurking. He came up with a sinister plan and even became the Ice Truck Killer.
To connect with his only family—Dexter, Brian started committing gruesome murders. He cut pieces of dead bodies and placed them in various locations where he made memories with his little brother. This was Brian's way to get back to his brother which led to his tragic fate.

How did Dexter's brother Brian die in the Dexter TV series?
Brian’s violent actions reached a peak when he decided to manipulate his younger brother into killing Debra Morgan, the adoptive daughter of Harry Morgan. Brian thought this would strengthen his bond with Dexter, but little did he know that it would lead to his ultimate death.
As a result, Dexter killed his biological brother Brian Moser and staged it as suicide. This was done to protect his adoptive sister and prove his loyalty toward her, marking an end to Brian's tragic arc. His journey contrasts with Dexter's, as he's leading a more controlled life while managing his dark tendencies.
