911 Lone Star was officially canceled by Fox after Season 5, and to top that, Sierra McClain's Grace Ryder is nowhere to be seen during the final run.
Grace has been a core cast member since the debut of this show in 2020, and not having her during the show's final season is a bummer for her fans.
911 Lone Star, created by Ryan Murphy, is a spinoff series based on the original procedural drama 911 following the lives of Los Angeles first responders.
While the fall finale hinted that Grace might be coming back for another episode to bid the show a proper goodbye, that doesn't seem to be the case. McClain left the show following some pay disputes with the production, and she will not return for Season 5.
More on Grace's exit from 911 Lone Star in our story.
What Happened to Grace on 911 Lone Star?
Grace has been an important cast member since the show's inception and is a 911 dispatcher in the dispatch center in Austin, Texas.
She is married to Jim Parrack's Firefighter, Judson "Judd" Ryder, and the couple has experienced many ups and downs in their relationship. They also have a daughter on the show.
Fans noticed her absence in Season 5 Episode 1 and wondered whether Grace had left 911 Lone Star. While it was also rumored that her husband would leave the show, he appears in the story to explain her wife's absence.
It turns out that Grace left her husband and their daughter to work as volunteers for a Christian charity abroad, which would require her to stay out of the country.
In the next episode, he also tries to call her for advice on something but cannot reach her, which hints that the actress has left the show for good.
Will McClain's Grace return for the fall finale of 911 Lone Star?
While there were speculations that the actress would return for the fall finale, especially after its title 'Fall from Grace,' McClain will return to the procedural.
Showrunner Rashad Raisani discussed in an interview with Screenrant that the title of the fall finale does not refer to Grace Ryder. Instead, the episode will focus on her husband, Judd, who is seemingly struggling after her wife departed for volunteer work.
''Due to [outside] forces, we didn't have Grace on screen, but certainly, her presence looms large and for nobody more than it does for Judd. What we're going to see in these last few episodes is the bill come due for Judd's soul without Grace, and what does that look like? We get the first taste of it in this episode.''
This clearly shows that Grace will not return to 911 Lone Star, but as an important part of the core team, her presence will always be felt on the show, especially by her husband Judd. Reportedly, McClain left the show in Season 5 following pay disputes with the production following the 2023 strike.
Cast representatives had already pushed for raises for renegotiation since the beginning of Season 4, but they were not heeded until after the season ended.
Following these contract and pay disputes, the actress left the show in Season 5.
911 Lone Star fall finale airs on December 2, 2024 on Fox.
