When did Alexander debut as Alexx Woods on CSI: Miami?

Khandi Alexander became a part of the CSI: Miami team in 2002. Woods worked as a caring medical examiner on the show, and Alexander's talent helped her thrive for six seasons turning Woods into a fan favorite.

Fans appreciated Alexander's character for her professionalism and kind demeanor to her coworkers. When she left in 2008, it closed a chapter for the show.

Real Reason why Alexander exited CSI: Miami?

Alexander chose to exit CSI: Miami to satisfy her longing for improvement and to tackle new challenges. In a chat with Reuters, Alexander said that after six years on the show, she thought it was time to check out new chances and take on different parts that would let her push her boundaries in acting.

Alexander noted,

"I had always done theater during the entire six years I was with CSI: Miami. You always know in the back of your head you've got to learn a bunch of lines for the show, so even though you're doing theater, you're divided. During the writers' strike, it had been the first time in six years when I could just completely focus on the play. I loved it so much, so I came to the decision that it was time for me to move on."

What did Alexender do post CSI: Miami?

Shortly after leaving CSI: Miami, Alexander joined the cast of HBO's Treme, playing the role of LaDonna Batiste-Williams, a no-nonsense bar owner.

To prepare for Treme, Alexander immersed herself in the New Orleans culture, even working in a local bar during Mardi Gras to bring authenticity to her character.
