One of the most popular forensic dramas in the world was CSI: Miami, revolving around the iconic Lieutenant Horatio Caine played by David Caruso. While the TV series majorly focused on the crime cases and the investigator, CSI: Miami also had other key characters like Adam Rodriguez's Eric Delko.

Eric Delko's storylines saw major shifts. Rodriguez's character was introduced as a skilled detective and forensic specialist at the Miami-Dade Crime Lab. Delko also specialized in drug identification, emerging as the team's core member.

Adam Rodriguez's portrayal in CSI: Miami was widely praised by fans, as he was one of the fan-favorite characters. However, Delko departed from the TV series in season eight, and his sudden exist didn't sit well with dedicated viewers.

Reason behind Adam Rodriguez's exit from CSI: Miami

Following the success of the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CBS released the spin-off series, CSI: Miami, which not only took fans back to Miami and the beautiful views, but also intrigued viewers with engaging characters and interesting plot twists.

While Caruso's Horatio Caine became the most influential investigator in CSI: Miami, Adam Rodriguez's role as Eric Delko also played a significant part in advancing storylines. He was a member of the Miami-Dade Crime Lab, whose loyalty and hard work was often praised by his colleagues.

In CSI: Miami season eight, Rodriguez abruptly departed from the show, as CBS couldn't agree with his new contract. In an inteview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor said:

"Lot of it had to do with both parties even being willing to hash something out. [The first] time, it was really CBS that walked away [from negotiations] quickly. I’m not going to pull any punches, that’s just the way it was."

Rodriguez talked about how fans and viewers reacted after his character was written off, and it severely impacted the show. He also mentioned that CBS instantly considered viewers' feedback and decided to bring Eric Delko back on the show.

Adam Rodriguez was able to make negotiations with CBS before starring in CSI: Miami season nine, as his new contract provided him with several advantages like writing and directing an episode of the fan-adored series.

Throughout the seasons of CSI: Miami, Eric Delko sustained major injuries, and was even shot in one of the seasons. He was always working on a crime case which attracted numerous challenges and life-thretening situations.

However, Delko was resilent enough to face such difficulties along with his team members. His relationship with Calleigh Duquesne in the TV series was widely discussed with fans, as they both navigated through multiple challenges while cherishing a romantic relationship.

CSI: Miami concluded with the tenth and final season in 2012, in which fans saw Eric Delko's happy ending as he retires from his job, marking a new beginning in his life.
