Daredevil: Born Again saw the release of the 5th and 6th episodes on March 25, 2025. The next day, on March 26, 2025, Marvel surprised fans worldwide with an approximately five-and-a-half-hour live stream announcing the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, which has entered production. While the announcement packed in many surprises for the fans of the X-Men, there were noticeable omissions.

Some of the major noticeable exclusions from the announcement were Tom Holland's Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk, Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange, and Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock/Daredevil. The last exclusion surprised many fans because a second season of Daredevil: Born Again is currently under filming.

However, just because the actors mentioned above weren't revealed in the live stream doesn't mean they aren't a part of the movie. A March 26, 2025, report on The Hollywood Reporter revealed that several other actors are a part of the movie but haven't been confirmed yet. However, THR revealed that it is unaware of how Marvel will make that announcement.

Therefore, Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock might be confirmed in the next announcement. However, as things stand for now, we don't know if the British actor who plays The Man Without Fear in the original Netflix show and the revival, Daredevil: Born Again, will be part of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Why is Daredevil: Born Again’s Matt Murdock actor Charlie Cox not a part of Avengers: Doomsday?

Leaked set images of Born Again Season 2 reveal that Matt Murdock's vigilante alter ego will be wearing a new suit, a black one.

This suit has fans theorizing that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will be adapting the popular 2010 comic book crossover event, Shadowland. In that event, Matt Murdock seems off after his return from Japan. He is more brutal and wears a black suit. It is revealed that Murdock has turned to the dark side, taken over The Hand, and started a reign of terror in Hell's Kitchen.

This brings all of New York's street-level heroes across the Marvel Universe to defeat Matt. However, it is revealed that Matt is possessed by a demonic entity, and it is up to the heroes to exorcise him and bring Matt back. At the end of this event, Matt Murdock is separated from the demon and returns to the classic red suit. However, he still had to deal with the ramifications of his actions.

Considering that Charlie Cox is already filming Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, it might be hard for the actor to allocate dates for Avengers: Doomsday. However, if he were revealed to be a part of the movie in the second announcement, it would not be impossible to film a small cameo like he did for Spider-Man: No Way Home and return to film Born Again.

An Instagram post in December 2024 by DFRNT Health and Fitness, an Australian gym, may have hinted at Charlie Cox's involvement in Avengers: Doomsday.

The post seen above initially had this caption stating that Charlie Cox was a part of Avengers: Doomsday, leading many to believe he is in the movie. However, since then, it has been changed to the one above. Cox himself addressed this post during a February 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly, saying:

"I was there for Christmas with my family. And on the last day, they asked if they could take a picture with me, which we did. I had said to them, 'I'm getting ready to play Daredevil,' 'cause I am! I'm getting ready to play Daredevil in season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. Sometimes people who aren't really in the [entertainment] world, they don't understand the terminology or whatever, but for some reason they posted that and they put 'getting ready for his role in the Avengers,' which is not true."

So, from his perspective, the actor is saying that this entire thing seems like a misunderstanding.
