Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is generally being praised as one of the most memorable recent adaptations of the Star Wars franchise.

Midway through the debut season of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew on Disney+, the fifth episode brought to the screens the dream-like moment of young Wim finally laying his hands on a weapon he had coveted for a long - a legendary lightsaber that originally belonged to the infamous pirate Tak Rennod and was buried in his treasure all this while.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew differs from the previous versions of the Star Wars franchise in terms of reliability.

For instance, wherein the previous iterations of Star Wars showcased characters instantly taking to wielding a hefty lightsaber, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew portrays the young Wim trying his best to use Tak Rennod's lightsaber, only till it all goes south and the weapon is relinquished from him.

The lightsaber is eventually taken up by Jod Na Nawood, who channels the energy derived from the Force to lift up the weapon and beckon it unto himself. Here's everything that we know about the lightsaber from the latest episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

How was Tak Rennod's lightsaber discovered on Star Wars: Skeleton CrewI?

The lightsaber belonging to Tak Rennond had been previously buried in a lair at Skull Ridge Mountain on the planet Lanupa. As a tense confrontation unfolded between Jod Na Nawood and Fern, the former brandished a knife and started threatening the latter with it.

In order to save the situation, young Wim brandished the lightsaber that had been recently discovered.

However, he quickly realizes that he is finally holding the one weapon he had always dreamed of.

Feeling overwhelmed at the prospect of holding an actual Jedi weapon, Wim loses his calm and points it in the wrong direction, which results in the lightsaber being deactivated. The lightsaber is then picked up by Jod Na Nawood himself who summons the Force to bring the weapon to his grasp.

It is interesting to note that this episode adds a welcome touch of reality by making the lightsaber a weapon that requires skill and ability to yield.

In stark contrast to the previous versions of Star Wars where characters were shown to be able to use the lightsaber almost as instantly as the first mention of it is made, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew makes young Wim realize that he isn't trained enough to use the lightsaber.

Tak Rennod's character arc explored

According to Star Wars lore, Tak Rennod was a fearful pirate who was the previous captain of the Onyx Cinder. His fame as the most vicious pirate was known all over the galaxy.

He was accused time and again of plundering and destroying multiple ships. Tak Rennod eventually became obsessed with laying his hands on the treasures hidden on the planet of At Attin.

He once visited the Fallen Sanctum on the planet At Achrann. It was here that he discovered the coordinates leading to At Attin and set forth on the journey. However, he fell prey to a crew mutiny onboard his ship and was stabbed by his own concubine.

Before dying, he managed to eject all the other mutinous crew members from the Onyx Cinder. The ship ultimately crashed in a wooded area on At Attin, leading to the deaths of everyone involved.
