The Challenge Season 40 has officially entered into a 'New Era' with episode 10, which aired on October 23. The challengers were involved in the individual challenges and a toss decided who would face elimination. However, it did not save the players from being the targets.
For episode 10, the targets were: Rachel (Era 1), Aviv (Era 2), and Jenny (Era 4) from the women's side. From the men's team, Derek (Era 2), Ryan (Era 2), and Johnny Bananas (Era 2) were targeted.
The synopsis of episode 10 of The Challenge season 40 reads:
"The game takes a huge turn as the Challengers must now work as individuals to claim victory, while still repping their era; a hot and grueling challenge has one person seeing double and another wishing they could use it as an ex."
TJ Lavin, the host of one of the longest-airing reality TV show, informed the players about the coin flip which was men versus women. Men lost the coin flip and were subjected to the elimination arena. However, he also announced that whoever loses from the women's side would face a penalty next week.
For the Daily Challenge, the players had to compete in "Fire Away", where they had to fill the cylinders kept next to their names with balls and solve the puzzle.
The Challenge season 40 episode 10: Daily challenge, Elimination arena, and more
The season witnessed yet another elimination but this time the competition was between the genders and not the Eras. In the Daily Challenge, the players gave it their all to solve the puzzle and fill the cylinders with balls to save their targeted Era members from elimination.
As the challenge started, the struggles were made worse by scorching heat and fatigue. Bananas tripped and wrongly did so by putting two balls in Jordan's cylinder. Jordan and Tori won the daily challenge from the men's and women's sides respectively. They had the privilege to decide who would compete in the elimination arena.
Ryan Keheo from Era 2 and Michele Fitzgerald were the losing members. As it was men's elimination day, Michele was safe from the elimination area but was subjected to next week's penalty. Ryan was directly subjected to face elimination arena.
Tori was hell-bent on sending Bananas to the elimination arena and gathered support from whoever wanted the same. Lastly, Jordan and Tori decided to nominate Bananas against Ryan for the elimination arena. Tori also sided with Rachel from Era 1, as she thought they were the strongest. The moment of truth came, and Bananas faced Ryan in the elimination arena, called "Killer Quads".
In this challenge, both players had to drive the "Quads", four-wheelers, in directions opposite to each other and tearing each other's ribbon. The one to complete the task fastest two times would not see the face of elimination. After a stretched round, Bananas beat Ryan by 2-0, and hoping that now he would rue the next week's target.
Ryan Kehoe was eliminated from Season 40, ending his journey in episode 10.
The Challenge season 40, episode 11 will air on MTV on October 30, at 9 pm ET/PT.
