The Voice Season 26 finale welcomed several celebrity guests to hit the stage with their mesmerizing performances. One of which was Tears for Fears, an English pop rock band by Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal. The band was formed by the two musicians back in the 1980s, and ever since, their hits have made their place in everyone's playlist.

NBC aired its two-night finale of The Voice on Dec 9 and 10. Though the first day included performances by the final five contestants (Sofronio Vasquez, Shye, Jeremy Beloate, Sydney Sterlace, and Danny Joseph), night two was filled with special appearances.

With back-to-back performances by former coaches, previous seasons' winners, musical legends, and duets by coaches with their finalists, the finale had it all. The British pop band that has been in the industry for more than 4 decades also hit the stage with not one but two of their originals.

Formed back in 1981 by singer, songwriter, and musicians Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. Over the past 40 years, the band has released several hits, including Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Head Over Heels, Mad World, Woman in Chains, Pharaohs, and more.

Though the band has featured many artists in their music videos and on their tours, Smith and Orzabel have been the core members. The two released their first album, The Hurting, under the band's name back in 1983. However, it wasn't until their 1985 record Songs From the Big Chair that the band got its recognition.

The Big Split

In 1991, Smith and Orzabal decided to split. Smith chose to follow his own path while Orzabal continued the band's name. For the next 11 years, he collaborated with many rockstars from the '90s and produced hit albums such as Elemental in 1993 and Raoul and the Kings of Spain in 1995.

Tears for Fears Big Reunion

The two decided to bring back the OG Tears for Fears in the early 2000s. After the big reunion, the band released its first album in 2004, Everybody Loves a Happy Ending. It then took many tours, re-releases, and records for the band to release another album, The Tipping Point, in 2022.

Tears for Fears appeared on The Voice Season 26 not only to make the finale night hit but also to release their new album, Songs for a Nervous Planet.
