A second spin-off from the FBI franchise, FBI: International is a police procedural drama series on CBS. The spin-off series focuses on a group of FBI special agents who tackle terrorism and crime abroad.
The team of special agents who take center stage in the series are known as the Fly Team. Based in Budapest, the special agents are tasked with investigating threats that endanger the safety of America.
Some of the agents in the team are Wesley Mitchell, Cameron Vo, Andre Raines, Amanda Tate, and Megan Garretson. FBI: International currently has four seasons. The fourth season of the series was released on October 15, 2024.
The cast of FBI: International features Jesse Lee Soffer, Vinessa Vidotto, Carter Redwood, Eva-Jane Willis, and Christina Wolfe. The latest episode of the series introduced audiences to a new cast member, Jay Hayden, who plays the role of Agent Tyler Booth.
Who does Jay Haden play on FBI: International?
Jay Haden made his debut in the series as Agent Tyler Booth. His character features in the episode titled "Keen as a Bean." Released on December 10, the episode introduces Agent Tyler Booth as a former colleague of Mitchell's.
While Agent Tyler Booth works primarily in America, one of his cases takes him to Budapest, where he meets Wes Mitchell. He enlists the help of the Fly Team to catch a criminal on the Most Wanted List in America.
For fans who have already begun making connections between Jay Haden's Agent Tyler Booth and Travis Montgomery, Haden has stated Booth will be nothing like Montgomery. When talking about what got him interested in FBI: International, he stated,
"When Matt Olmstead was talking to me about the character that he so wonderfully wrote, there was one thing that I connected to a lot, which was his relationship with his daughter and how much she matters to him and means to him, and how reactive he can be when she becomes in danger. And I connect to that, and I loved his love for his daughter, and also how sometimes she needs to give dad advice. That I can relate to too. And I was like, 'Oh yeah, I really like that."
He further added,
"Also, what a different kind of character for me to play in terms of he does things the wrong way sometimes. He thinks that maybe the shortcut to what we need to do is probably the right way to go, which is not the way Wes Mitchell does things. So I really wanted to jump into a character that I had no experience playing before."
What made Jay Haden return to network TV so soon after Station 19's cancellation?
Keeping in mind how stressful the schedule of network TV can get, many believed that for some time, audiences would not get to see Jay Haden in another project due to the end of Station 19.
Jay Haden made a quick comeback to network TV with his recent debut in FBI: International. When talking about his reasons for coming back so quickly, the actor stated,
"I can't believe it- I thought I was going to take a nice, long break after Station 19, but...How could I pass up an opportunity to work on a Wolf show? I've been waiting to get into that world forever. Nobody does crime drama like them. And then, working with one of my closest friends, Jesse Lee Soffer. So yes, I decided to come back a little early! It's been great. It's wonderful."
