Who is Simon on XO, Kitty? Character explored in depth 

Kitty 2.0 is finally here and so does new mysteries and revelations in XO, Kitty Season 2. The second chapter is also filled with twists, and for the second time, fans are left speculating about Kitty’s romantic future.

Season 2 starts with the second semester at KISS, and Kitty Song Covey has never been this serious. However, the biggest reason she wanted to land in Korea, wasn't just about her studies, but to discover who her mom was, and if she had a love interest before she married her dad.

As seen in the first episode, Kitty tells Q that she'll find out the truth about Simon, the man named in her mother's letter. XO, Kitty Season 1 ended without revealing who Simon was, but the second chapter didn't disappoint us.

Turns out, Kitty wasn't searching for her mother's first love but her family. The mysterious man Simon from season 1 is Kitty Song Covey's mother's cousin. Kitty discovers that her mother came to South Korea years ago to reconcile her estranged family after a betrayal separated them.

Simon is Kitty's mother's cousin in Netflix's XO, Kitty Season 2

The biggest question that fans carried from XO, Kitty Season 1 to the sophomore season was about the mystery of Simon. Since Kitty misunderstood a few relations, she assumed Simon to be her mother's first love.

However, the mystery is finally resolved as we've learned who Simon is. In XO, Kitty Season 2 Episode 2 "Never Been Kissed", Kitty gets in touch with Yuri's mother, Jina Lim, through a call and asks if she knows about Simon.

The moment Kitty learns the truth, she rushes to Q, and tells him that:

"He's my grandma's sister's son. I'm not searching for my mom's first love. I'm searching for... my family."

And the twist? Her grandmother doesn't have a sister. Or does she? XO, Kitty Season 2 also revealed that Kitty's mother Eve, used to exchange letters with Simon, and the two were determined to reunite their mothers, who didn't speak to each other for long.

Thankfully, Eve succeeded in convincing her mother to return to South Korea and reunite with her sister. However, Eve's death didn't let the reunion happen. Upon learning about the family drama and past conflicts, Kitty takes on the mission to fulfill her mother’s wish of reuniting their family.

In her journey, Kitty Song Covey also finds out about Simon's tragic fate. Her newly found cousin, Jiwon—Simon’s daughter reveals that she lost Simon at the age of ten.

Despite the sadness, Kitty manages to arrange a reunion for her grandmother and great-aunt. In the season 2 finale "Sealed With a Kiss" the two sisters finally meet. The sisters' eyes are filled with tears of joy as they hug after almost fifty years of separation.

Kitty's mother gifts her sister a lovely family photo, making it an incredibly emotional and satisfying reunion.
