Netflix's The Society is a mystery drama that debuted on the platform in May 2019. The show is about a group of teenagers who are transported into an alternate reality, where everyone in their town has disappeared. With no adults around, the kids are forced to set new rules and learn to live in their new normal.

The mystery in The Society centers on Cassandra's murder, who is shot by one of the members. After a brutal trial, it is revealed that the killer was Greg Dewey. Greg shot Cassandra because he did not like her style of leadership.

The show left many questions after Season 1 concluded, which might have been answered in Season 2. However, although Netflix renewed The Society for a second season after good reception, the show was canceled in August 2020 because COVID-19 halted production.

After the teens are forced into the apocalyptic nightmare, Cassandra becomes the leader of the group. While some of the group are happy to see her lead, many including Harry and Greg are not.

While Cassandra cleans up after the prom, she sees someone heading up to her. There are gunshots, and she is dead. While Allie and the group begin their search for her murderer, Greg claims to Harry that he killed Cassandra to make the latter happy because he knows that Harry did not like Cassandra's policies.

Later, during his trial, Greg initially claims that he is innocent. However, in the final moments of the trial, he finally breaks down and confesses to the murder of Cassandra, saying:

“Cassandra was a fucking b*tch, and so is her sister and her black boyfriend who makes all the rules... I killed Cassandra for everyone. Because she had it coming. Because the night of prom we were all at Harry’s house and he said he wished she was dead.”

Since the young protagonists are in an alternate reality with no courts of law, police or justice system, Allie takes it upon herself to serve justice as Cassandra's sister and the new leader in The Society.

After Greg is found guilty, Allie orders that he is to be executed in the woods. Luke, Jason, and Grizz are given guns, of which only one is loaded. This is done so as not to reveal who actually executed Greg.

He is blindfolded and tied to a chair, but Grizz cannot go forward with the execution, and Allie takes his place. They all fire their respective guns, and Greg is killed. While many fans believed it was Allie's gun that fired the bullet, the show does not reveal the truth.

After her bold choice of justice, Allie is overthrown by Harry, who becomes the group's new leader in The Society finale.
