Culinary Class Wars on Netflix is a unique Korean cooking show where 20 elite and established White Spoon chefs are competing with 80 not yet established Black Spoon chefs. Seonkyoung Longest is a White Spoon chef in Culinary Class Wars.
Because of its unique format, the show has already become wildly popular. While at the beginning, the White Spoon chefs were clearly taking an upper hand on the Black Spoon chefs, gradually the Blacks Spoons are proving their worth.
With chefs of both the groups being good at what they do, we will now talk about Seonkyoung Longest, who is a famous YouTuber chef and winner of Restaurant Express.
Who is Seonkyoung Longest?
Seonkyoung Longest is a Korean-American chef and YouTuber who has 2.21 million subscribers and is popular for her diverse recipe and cooking content. She was born in Korea and in March 2009 migrated to America after marriage.
Her parents ran a restaurant in Korea and that is how she grew up cooking from a very early age. However, before becoming a chef, Seonkyoung Longest chose a number of different professions.
First, because of her interest in painting and comics, she had tried to make a career in that field. She even worked with the famous Korean cartoonist Lee Hyun-se. However, the field soon disillusioned her and she left her dreams of becoming a cartoonist.
Then she went on to become a belly dancer and became quite successful as well. In the four competitions she participated as a belly dancer, she came second in one and third in two. She also became a member of the group Seoul Street Artists and performed on the streets of Seoul. However, then she met her husband and moved to America.
Gradually, she returned to cooking and even won Restaurant Express, an American survival cooking competition.
What are some of the shows that Seonkyoung Longest has been involved in?
In 2013, Seonkyoung Longest participated in Food Network’s reality show Restaurant Express. Here, the winner was decided not only based on their food, but also their ability to run a restaurant and its concept and food decorated. The show was hosted by English celebrity chef - Robert Irvine.
During the seven weeks of the show, Seonkyoung Longest presented dishes that turned Korean food into a modern day easy-to-eat menu. She prepared dishes like bibimbap burger and fried chicken and won the competition, beating eight other participants.
After winning the show, Seonkyoung Longest had the opportunity of becoming the executive chef at the Jade Fusion Restaurant for four months. The restaurant was to be built with M Resort, the executives of which were the final judges in Restaurant Express.
Seonkyoung Longest also participated in MasterChef Season 4 in 2013. However, there she could only secure the 40th place among 40,000 participants. She had faced a language issue there because she had only recently immigrated to America and had difficulties expressing herself in English.

Currently, Seonkyoung Longest does not own any restaurant of her own. She’s a YouTuber now with the experience of serving as an executive chef for four months.
