Apple TV+’s Silo is keeping the audience on the edge of their seats with each passing episode. The series, based on Hugh Howey’s novels of the same name, follows underground communities living in silos after the world has been declared too toxic to inhabit.

The show has introduced various fascinating characters so far, many of whom have been shrouded in mystery, which only adds to the intrigue of the story. In season 2, a new character, Salvador Quinn, is mentioned a couple of times.

Though he does not make an appearance on the screen, he is tied to the history of the underground communities, which makes him an important part of the narrative.

So who is Salvador Quinn in Silo? He is a historical figure who was the head of IT some 140 years ago during the Rebellion.

Salvador Quinn is a mysterious man who lived about 140 years before the events of the show. Quinn was the head of IT of Silo 18, a position currently being held by Bernard Holland, which gave him control over technology and information, and hence, the citizens.

This made him a central figure during the Great Rebellion, which took place in 2312. Quinn is first mentioned in season 2, episode 4; however, his name had already been featured in The Pact rule book in the first season.

The narrative starts focusing on Quinn when Bernard Holland’s former Shadow, Judge Meadows mentions his name just before her death. She talks about a coded letter Quinn had written, which seemed to reveal hidden truths about the silos.

Meadows is able to decode the letter and believes it holds clues about the real reason the silos were built. On the other hand, Quinn is also connected to the hard drive found by George Wilkins.

The hard drive is seen as a relic that dates back to the time before the rebellion and contains secrets about the purpose of the silos. However, with Meadows's death, Quinn’s character and purpose still largely remain a mystery.

In the novels, Mr. Wyck was the head of IT during the Great Rebellion. As the series deviates from the source material, the creators have added another layer of suspense by introducing Quinn.

Salvador Quinn could have played a crucial role in the 140-year-old rebellion of Silo 18. As the Head of IT, he was likely part of the group that worked to stop the rebels and protect the leadership. The authorities call this victory ‘Freedom Day,’ which is still celebrated to commemorate how they defeated the rebels.

Meanwhile, Quinn might also have been involved in the erasing of history. After the rebellion ended, many old relics were either destroyed or hidden. This is why most people in Silo 18 have no memory of what really happened during the rebellion.

In one of the episodes in season 2, it is suggested that the authorities used a memory-erasing drug to wipe away the truth and keep the residents in the dark. Quinn’s coded letter is also one of the biggest secrets connected to the rebellion.

The letter could have contained such powerful information that it causes Meadows to step down from her position as Bernard’s shadow. At the same time, Quinn could also be linked to the underground tunnels that connect the 50 silos.

It is possible that the rebels discovered these tunnels and tried to use them to escape during the rebellion. Quinn may have been responsible for stopping this plan and flooding the tunnels.

The show’s future episodes or seasons would likely delve more into Quinn’s character as the history and secrets about the underground communities start to come out.
