Creature Commandos, James Gunn's recent adult animated series on Max, is creating waves, bringing many unexplored and new characters from the DC comics with their origin stories.

One new character introduced is Princess Ilana Rostovic, voiced by Maria Bakalova, the Princess of Pokolistan. Rick Flag Sr. takes an instant liking to her when he first meets her in Episode 1.

While Ilana is introduced as an innocent and good character in Episode 1, her intentions and true motives turn out to be evil and contradictory with new episodes of Creature Commandos.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Bakalova confirmed that her character is the same age as her, i.e., in her late 20s, which makes her accountable for her own actions.

More on Princess Ilana's character and origins in Creature Commandos in our story.

Is Princess Ilana Rostovic in Creature Commandos a canon from DC comics? Exploring the character's whereabouts

Princess Ilana Rostovic is introduced as the ruler of Pokolistan, a small European nation and a small fragment of the former Czech Republic. While Pokolistan is a fictional place, it is a DC comic canon and has appeared before.

But, unlike her home country, Princess Ilana from Creature Commandos is not a canon figure from DC Comics but a new creation by Gunn for this animated series. While little is known of her country, Pokolistan, it was first introduced in the 2000s and was conquered by the son of cosmonauts Paulin and Tor Avruiskin, who developed Superman-like strengths.

Princess Ilana appears to be a typical damsel in distress when we meet her in Creature Commandos Episode 1. While she is shown as a woman who needs rescuing, much mystery exists around her character. When the team of commandos reaches her home country, it is in shambles because of Circe's efforts to conquer it.

But as the show progresses, Ilana's character grows increasingly suspicious as she tries to seduce Rich Flag Sr. when her country is in danger. This feels out of character based on what the viewers initially thought of her.

Circe's vision about Princess Ilana Rostovic in Creature Commandos suggests she is evil

Since Creature Commandos' inception, Princess Ilana is shown as a damsel whose life is threatened by the series' antagonist, Circe, the Amazonian who wants to kill her and conquer Pokolistan.

However, Episode 4 changes this narrative and suggests that Princess Ilana might not be innocent. After being defeated, Amanda Waller interrogates Circe, where she reveals that she is trying to kill Ilana to save humanity.

Using her Amazonian powers, she shares a dark vision about Ilana, where she is allying with Gorilla Grodd and leading a major army to attack the US and take over the White House.

The vision also shows how her actions result in fatalities for David Corenswet's Superman, John Cena's Peacemaker, Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl, and Milly Alcock's Supergirl, who all fall in the end, and Ilana laughs at her victory over their bodies.

While the truth about this vision and Ilana's future plans for humanity is still a mystery in Creature Commandos, her recent orders to kill Task Force M, led by The Bride, hint that there is the truth about Circe's vision. This sets up a very interesting storyline for her character in Creature Commandos.
