The Umbrella Academy is a wildly popular superhero series about the dysfunctional Hargreeves family. They are mainly a group of siblings who were adopted and have bizarre, extraordinary abilities. After the mysterious death of their father, Sir Reginald Hargreeves, estranged siblings come together to solve the mystery of his death and prevent the impending apocalypse.

As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that each sibling has some extraordinary abilities at their disposal to prove their power. From Viktor's earthquake-inducing sonic powers to Klaus's mastery of the supernatural, the Hargreeves siblings hold very little back when they band together. Of course, there are a few who stand above the rest in raw power and reality-bending ability.

In The Umbrella Academy universe, Viktor Hargreeves (formerly known as Vanya) is the most powerful sibling. With lethal powers of sonic harnessing, he fires energy blasts that cause catastrophic damage, making him a formidable force in the family. As the show continues, Viktor's powers grow to manifest his potential to change the grand scale of reality.

Ranking The Umbrella Academy characters from least to most powerful

The Umbrella Academy has a total of 14 superpowered siblings. There are the seven original ones—Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Five, Ben, and Viktor. They were all adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves. Seven other members are added from an alternate timeline's Sparrow Academy, including Marcus, Fei, Alphonso, Sloane, Jayme, and Christopher. They were born to women who gave birth simultaneously on October 1, 1989.

14. Marcus Hargreeves played by Justin Cornwell

Marcus, the head of the Sparrow Academy, has superhuman strength and enhanced agility. While these powers are useful in hand-to-hand fighting, they make him a rather ineffective hero overall. For example, in his bout with The Umbrella Academy in Season 3, Marcus is easily bested by Viktor and company.

The non-variability and simple reliance on brute force makes him pretty weak compared to his siblings. Although he is supposed to be in a leadership role, he fails to use his position to his advantage effectively. This is an element that works to his disadvantage, thereby leaving him at the tail end of the power ranking.

13. Luther Hargreeves played by Tom Hopper

Luther has more significant physical strength and endurance due to a serum injected by their father, Sir Reginald Hargreeves, and is therefore called Spaceboy. While he is fit for fisticuffs in direct fights, his powers only relate to close-range fighting.

He would fight off several enemies single-handedly in Season 1, but he was always at a disadvantage because he lacks agility and strategic thinking. For example, during the final battle of Season 1, he fares pretty poorly against most of the Handler's agents. His inability to adapt in combat situations, along with leaning on pure strength, places him pretty low in the rankings.

12. Alphonso played by Jake Epstein

Alphonso can reflect the damage to his attackers, making him a defense powerhouse, but it's situation-dependent and highly reliant on the fact of being attacked first. While he proves his might during skirmishes in Season 3, he cannot attack at all during these.

Ultimately, he is crippled due to his reliance on others engaging in combat for him. Moreover, he is made to be somewhat comic most of the time, which again minimizes his powers and makes them not seem like a threat at all. This situational power with a comedy touch makes him rank at the bottom of the list.

11. Diego Hargreeves played by David Castañeda

Diego's power is connected with knife-throwing, allowing him to change the trajectory of any object he throws. While that turns him into an able fighter, it gives him very little flexibility compared to many other powers within The Umbrella Academy.

Throughout the series but especially in Season 1 and Season 2, one gets a sense of Diego's might in combat; however, he is often overwhelmed by opponents much more powerful than himself. For example, he fights against the Swedes in Season 2, only to realize that he is quite outclassed. He is a hard man who fights very well, but since he does not have any supernatural powers and has to rely on his bodily strength, he only makes it to mid-ranking.

10. Fei played by Britne Oldford

She uses the ability to summon and control the crows for this task by sending them for attacks. The power would have limited use, such as maybe being able to locate something useful outside of the area, or perhaps distracting enemies in case they were to be used to imprison the weakened judge in the trial.

During Season 3, Fei had the perfect chance to show her power before the audience during the battles of the Handler in front of The Umbrella Academy. However, after undergoing an orientation of such manipulation power and a minimal orientation in empowerment, this made it not generally strong.

Although she can still send her crows off to wreak havoc; she simply is not as wreckful as the siblings. She ranks lower in power due to her dependency on the crows and also because of the situational nature of her powers.

9. Sloane played by Genesis Rodriguez

Sloane can manipulate gravity—the implication of which is that she can fly and attack acrobatically. This makes her easier to move about in evasion and, therefore, a rather difficult enemy to pick off. She wields them during a series of assaults by The Umbrella Academy to her advantage.

As cool as Sloane's powers are, they lack the raw destructive force of the siblings at the top of the list. She can fly and avoid attacks, which is helpful, but it can't compare with the brutal power others in the family demonstrate; she is thus positioned in the middle of this list.

8. Christopher played by Existential Dread Inducing Psykronium Cube

Christopher is a sentient cube who can induce fear and paralysis. This allows him to incapacitate enemies, so this power is quite useful in a fight. He becomes very instrumental in Season 3 battles for the Sparrow Academy against The Umbrella Academy.

However, his powers are mostly defensive and rely on the reaction of fear in others; all these powers are easily circumvented or countered by strong-willed people. While his abilities can create much chaos, they do not provide any real offensive capabilities like those his siblings have, which limits him and ranks him lower.

7. Jayme played by Cazzie David

Jayme can spit her hallucinogenic venom, which makes anything real to the person on the receiving end. This will be super helpful in combat scenarios by distanced neutralization of enemies without actually fighting them. She uses this venom when trying to disorient the members of The Umbrella Academy in Season 3, hence giving her a strategic advantage.

But these powers are circumstantial and will evade those who know her better. She could be ranked higher among her siblings if not for her high reliance upon her venom to affect most of her surroundings and the general limits under which her power operates.

6. Ben Hargreeves played by Justin H. Min

Ben, otherwise known as The Horror, can summon tentacles that come from another dimension for offense and defense. He has destructive abilities and causes much chaos in fights. His abilities are potentially very destructive, especially during Season 2, where he shows them off against many enemies.

His character often appears more ghostly; that alone means his potential to fight directly in battles is seldom recognized. While he is very powerful, the fact that he often cannot use his powers to their full potential due to his ghostly state stops him from being placed at the top of the list.

5. Lila Pitts played by Ritu Arya

Lila possesses the ability to duplicate any power thrown around her, which makes her very adaptive and formidable. This ability makes her go against enemies well by turning their powers against them. The little girl appears in the second season among the conflicts that The Umbrella Academy is involved in. It shows the strategic advantage of her abilities.

This powerful mimicry has the weakness of being entirely reliant on there being other super-powered individuals, though. Everything is situational and based on the skills of those around her, which thus creates a limit to her potential in any case. Nevertheless, her versatility earns her a great position in rankings.

4. Allison played by Emmy Raver-Lampman

Allison can change reality through "rumoring" people to do what she says. It is a very strong power because it makes her the one in control of situations. Throughout Season 1, she uses her powers to get out of dangerous situations and try to control people. However, the powers are not without their flaws. For example, she cannot control those who become aware of her powers or those with strong wills.

Her inner conflicts about using her powers and their morality come out more in Season 3, as she further becomes vulnerable. Despite that, the power of manipulation does put her higher on the scale compared to the other siblings.

3. Klaus played by Robert Sheehan

Klaus is versatile, from being immortal to being able to talk to the living dead and draw strength from them. He can call on the spirits to fight with him, as he demonstrated in Season 2. The ability for astral projection is in his bag of powers, enabling him to manipulate things from a distance.

However, Klaus often struggles with his own insecurities and substance abuse, which can hamper his performance. All of that notwithstanding, Klaus' diversity of abilities and resilience places him high on the power ranking.

2. Five played by Aidan Gallagher

Five is one of the most strategically powerful members of The Umbrella Academy; he can teleport and travel through time and space. With this mastery in time traveling, he can manipulate events and their results. He puts forward these powers in Season 1 to be able to move through complex timelines and avoid dangerous situations.

This, aided by his intelligence and tactical acumen, gives him an edge in battles. For sure, he isn't some kind of sibling who has the raw, natural power to destroy, but with his strategies in time and space, he does come out to be a strong force among the lot.

1. Viktor played by Elliot Page

Viktor Hargreeves, formerly known as Vanya, is the most powerful sibling in The Umbrella Academy. Among his powers are emitting devastating sonic waves and energy blasts that could cause some catastrophic damage. In Season 2, his powers show how close Viktor goes to blowing up the moon.

His powers grow further as the series progresses but remain increasingly hard to control. This emphasizes how great their potential truly is. In the third season, he fights several powerful enemies, thereby proving his destructive abilities. His raw power and reality shifting put him at the top of the Hargreeves sibling power ranking.
