The world of Star Wars is filled with adorable characters. One of these characters is that of the blue elephant Neel in the latest streaming show Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. The character, voiced by child actor Robert Timothy Smith, captures viewers' hearts with his innocence. It looks like the kid has just started, and Neel in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew seems to be his breakout role.
Robert Timothy Smith from Star Wars: Skeleton Crew career explained
Looks like Neel in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is Smith's breakout role. Apart from Skeleton Crew, Robert Timothy Smith did have two other roles. He has a role in the November 2024 comedy Dear Santa along with Jack Black and even the acclaimed Apple TV+ movie Wolfs.
Of those two, Wolfs seems to be an important career film, as it is his first collaboration with Jon Watts. That's because Watts is also the creator of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. The movie was Watts' return to a non-blockbuster movie after making three back-to-back blockbusters with the Spider-Man movies with Tom Holland. It stars George Clooney and Brad Pitt as professional fixers.
Who is Neel from Star Wars: Skeleton Crew?
Neel is one of the four main child protagonists of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, along with Fern, KB, and Wim. He has the body of a baby blue elephant and is Wim's best friend. He is a resident of the planet At Attin and lives with his parents, Nooma and Nol, along with siblings Jobo, Tuloo, and Jorko. Neel hopes to become an analyst just like his mother.
As a character, Neel is soft-spoken and sincere about his school duties. One of Neel's endearing aspects is his loyalty. The Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode he shines is the fourth one, "Can't Say I Remember No At Attin." He reveals his pacifist ideology to Hayna, a child soldier on the planet At Achrann. He reveals to her that he believes in the futility of revenge, impressing Hayna.
At the end of the same Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode, after it is revealed that SM-33's previous captain, Tak Rennod, ordered him to execute anyone asking for At Attin's location, Neel stands up for his friends. This is a major character development for Neel as this is the first time he has been at the line of violence and has stood his ground. These qualities make the audience fall in love with Neel.
Behind the scenes, while Robert Timothy Smith voices the character, Kacie Borrowman is the performance artist. Furthermore, it is also important to note that he does not belong to the same species as Max Rebo, who was seen at Jabba the Hutt's lair in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.
