HBO’s highly anticipated sci-fi series Dune: Prophecy has introduced us to many aspects of the Bene Gesserit. The show stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and many other popular names. Jihae Kim, a South Korean actress, musician, and model who plays Reverend Mother Kasha Jinjo, is one of them.

Created by Alison Schapker, Dune: Prophecy is based on the novel Sisterhood Of Dune, which is the first book in the prequel trilogy, Schools Of Dune, by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. The HBO series follows two Harkonnen sisters—Emily Watson’s Mother Superior Valya Harkonnen, the leader of the Sisterhood, and Olivia Williams’ Reverend Mother Tula Harkonnen—who navigate through the challenges faced by the future of mankind and establish the formidable sect Bene Gesserit.

Dune: Prophecy premiered in November 2024 and introduced several new characters to the Dune Universe. The show is filled with many big names, from the main cast to the recurring and guest stars. One of them is South Korean actress Jihae Kim. Her character, Reverend Mother Kasha Jinjo, is the Emperor’s Truthsayer who initially is loyal to the Sisterhood but starts questioning their intentions later.

Who is Jihae Kim? The actress's career and notable projects explored.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, on February 7, 1974, the multitalented actress Jihae grew up in Sweden and Nigeria and graduated from Emory University.

The 50-year-old Dune: Prophecy actress started as a model for Eileen Fisher, a clothing brand. In 2007, she released her first album, My Heart is An Elephant, which featured musician Lenny Kravitz and filmmaker Michel Gondry.

Other than modeling and her extensive singing career, the Dune: Prophecy actress has appeared in several popular films and television shows. Her first role in a film was as herself, singer Jihae, in Richard Koehling’s sci-fi film 2B (2009). She also appeared in Christian Rivers’ 2018 film Mortal Engines as Anna Fang.

Apart from Dune: Prophecy, Jihae also appeared in many fan-favorite TV shows. Her first notable role was in the National Geographic miniseries, Mars (2016-2018), where she played the role of twins, Hana and Joon Seung. She gained recognition through her role in the series Altered Carbon as Torch Singer. In 2021, Jihae played the character of Berry Schneider, a PR consultant, in the award-winning show Succession.

While appearing in these highly acclaimed shows, Jihae has also maintained her singing career and launched her own music label, Septem. She has released many studio and digital albums, including Elvis Is Still Alive (2008), Fire Burning Rain (2010), and Illusion Of You (2018).

Her song Man to Man, Woman to Woman with Dave Stewart was selected as the theme song for the Hours Against Hate Campaign in 2012 by Hillary Clinton.
