Paramount+’s Tulsa King traces the journey of Dwight Manfredi, played by Sylvester Stallone, a mafia capo who establishes a gang in Tulsa after being released from his 25-year prison sentence.
The crime drama features several characters that affect Dwight’s journey in the town. One of them is Grace, who joins his gang in the first season. Grace is played by actress McKenna Quigley Harrington, marking her first major role on television.
Harrington has featured in the 2017 thriller film The Dead Half, and the 2022 mystery comedy-drama film Susie Searches. As Grace, Harrington appears in Tulsa King in a recurring capacity but has an impactful character that adds new layers to the show.
Grace goes from being an employee at Bodhi's marijuana shop to one of the most deadly members of Dwight’s crew.
Grace's journey from Bodhi's employee to Dwight’s gang member in Tulsa King
Grace starts as a minor character in Tulsa King but grows into a tough member of the Manfredi family. She makes her first appearance in the premiere episode of the series. Initially, she works as an employee at Bodhi's marijuana dispensary, the Higher Plane, where she meets Dwight Manfredi.
In their first encounter, Grace is not prepared to handle Dwight’s intimidating presence. When Dwight knocks down the security guard at the dispensary and orders her to hand over her phone and sit down, Grace does exactly as she is told, stating she is too high to deal with anything.
As the story moves forward, the character becomes more compelling. It is eventually revealed that Grace is a skilled sharpshooter, a talent she learned from her father, who was a survivalist. She also discloses she had a tumultuous relationship with her father, who died by suicide two years earlier.
This adds an emotional layer to her personality, explaining why she has a tough edge despite her laid-back and stoner personality. Her steady hand and calmness under pressure quickly make her an asset to Dwight’s team.
Grace has a major role to play In the Tulsa King season 1 finale, as she helps protect Dwight’s casino Bred-2-Buck from a gang called the Black MacAdams. She shows her loyalty to her team and uses her shooting skills against the enemies.
She proves herself to be a valuable member, moving from her old profession to someone who can intimidate mafias. When Dwight gets arrested, Grace and other gang members get the chance to step up and take on bigger roles.
She gets promoted to ‘cannabis concierge’ earning the trust of Dwight and the gang. Meanwhile, she also takes part in riskier operations, like when she, Tyson, and Mitch steal catalytic converters from a used car lot.
Grace has an even bigger part to play in Tulsa King season 2 when she helps the gang take down a Chinese mob boss named Jackie Ming. She shoots Ming in the leg, while Dwight’s right-hand man, Tyson, delivers the final blow.
Hence, Grace’s journey in Tulsa King shows her change from a cautious outsider to a courageous and loyal member of the Manfredi family. Her background, skills, and hidden talents make her one of the most interesting characters in the series.
As the show goes on, she continues to be an integral part of Dwight’s team and might be assigned more responsibilities by the gang leader in the future. Tulsa King is scheduled to air its second season finale on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
