Stranger Things season 4 introduced a new key character, Dmitri Antonov, aka Enzo, who became an integral part of the story. Enzo, a Russian prison guard, decides to help Jim Hopper escape in exchange for money.

However, the plan is exposed, and the guard is imprisoned himself. Throughout the season, the character shines due to his smartness, courage, sense of humor, and willingness to take risks. German actor Tom Wlaschiha played Enzo in Stranger Things and wonderfully depicted all these personality traits.

Wlaschiha is known for his performances in Game of Thrones and Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. He has also been seen in several German films, television series, and stage plays.

Enzo’s journey in Stranger Things

Tom Wlaschiha was confirmed to be joining Stranger Things’ cast in 2020. Two years later, he entered the show as Dmitri “Enzo” Antonov and impressed the audience with his performance.

Dmitri is a Soviet prison guard in Kamchatka who agrees to help Jim Hopper escape and get back to the US in exchange for a bribe. Using the code name Enzo, Dmitri sends Joyce Byers a Russian doll and a letter telling her that Hopper is alive.

He instructs her to bring $40,000 to Alaska to meet Yuri, who would arrange for Hopper's rescue. Joyce then teams up with Murray Bauman and follows Enzo’s instructions. Meanwhile, Hopper manages to escape the prison briefly, but Yuri double-crosses him and Enzo.

He exposes their plan to the warden and captures Joyce and Murray, taking them to Russia as prisoners. Enzo is arrested for treason and ends up in the same prison he once worked in, now as an inmate. He is then forced to team up with Hopper to survive.

The two are chosen to fight a Demogorgon the prison has captured. Before the battle, the prisoners are given a feast to make them taste better for the Demogorgon. Meanwhile, Hopper steals a lighter and alcohol to create a weapon against the demon.

At the same time, he and Enzo form a close bond, and they share their family’s stories with each other. When the fight begins, many prisoners start to die, but Hopper uses fire to keep the monster at bay. Meanwhile, Joyce and Murray infiltrate the prison and open the gate to save them. Enzo helps Hopper escape just in time.

He is also able to convince Yuri to help the group. As Hopper, Joyce, and Murray destroy the remaining Demogorgons at the prison and leave for the US, Enzo and Yuri are left behind in their home country.

Stranger Things season 5 will premiere on Netflix sometime in 2025.
