Among the unique psychological crime thrillers on Netflix is Mindhunter, which follows the FBI's quest to understand and profile serial killers. Based on former FBI agent John E. Douglas's 1995 book, the TV series dives into the beginning of criminal psychology and the initial challenges faced by law enforcement.

While Mindhunter extensively focused on FBI Agent Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff), the show also introduced viewers to other key characters in Season 1, including Debbie Mitford, played by Hannah Gross.

The Canadian actress took on the role of Holden's girlfriend Debbie, a sociology student who gradually develops a strong connection with the agent. As the two get to know each other, Debbie starts to influence Holden's views on criminal psychology.

Being an FBI agent, Holden views human behavior from a law enforcement perspective, while Debbie prefers seeing it sociologically. Their backgrounds and understanding of human behavior play a major role in their relationship, but later in Mindhunter Season 2, Debbie is nowhere to be seen.

Even though Hannah Gross appeared only in the first Season of the Netflix series, her portrayal of Debbie had a lasting impact on Holden Ford's narrative. Not only did she highlight the agent's character development but also explored his emotional struggles.
