Daredevil: Born Again marks the return of the fan-favorite blind lawyer slash masked vigilante on the screen. The show officially welcomes Matt Murdock into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after the superhero’s Netflix series, Daredevil.

Apart from Matt, a few other characters from the Netflix show are also coming back in the new Disney+ series, including Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter, aka Bullseye. In Daredevil: Born Again, the villain is played by Wilson Bethel, who also portrayed the role in the previous series.

Wilson Bethel is an accomplished actor who has been seen in several shows and films. He has worked on some projects as a producer, writer, and director as well. His incredible performance as Dex in Daredevil season 3, had made the antagonist a fan-favorite.

Wilson Bethel plays Bullseye in Daredevil: Born Again

Wilson Bethel was first reported reprising his role as Bullseye in Daredevil: Born Again in January 2024. The show’s official trailer has confirmed his presence in the show. Before shooting to wide stardom with Daredevil, Bethel made his television debut playing Brad in The O.C. in 2004.

He later made appearances on shows like NCIS and Cold Case and had a breakthrough by playing Ryder Callahan in the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless. In 2008, he starred in the Emmy-nominated miniseries Generation Kill and made his movie debut with 1968 Tunnel Rats.

In 2018, he joined Netflix’s Daredevil as Dex and made the character memorable. Over the years, he has also appeared in the shows How to Get Away with Murder, Hart of Dixie, and All Rise. Meanwhile, he continued his film career and was seen in the movies Stealing Summers, Cold Turkey, and Inherent Vice.

Wilson Bethel made his supervillain debut in Daredevil season 3, which was not set in the MCU. Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter, later known as Bullseye, became one of the show’s most iconic antagonists.

He started as an FBI agent who protected Wilson Fisk, but his mental health issues and his obsession with Julie Barnes overpowered him. Fisk gave Dex a fake Daredevil suit, which he used to commit crimes and ruin Daredevil’s reputation.

As Dex got more unstable, he turned against Fisk, who broke his spine. Bullseye eventually had to go through surgeries to fix his spinal issues. He now returns in Daredevil: Born Again, which officially makes Wilson Bethel a part of the MCU.

In the new show, Dex is reported to be wearing a dark blue tactical suit inspired by his classic comic book look. Now that Fisk is trying to become New York’s mayor, Dex might want revenge for the betrayal and injuries he suffered. This could pitch him against Fisk and Daredevil.

Bethel talked about his role in Daredevil: Born Again and how it connects to his previous show at Fan Expo San Francisco in 2024. The actor said as the new show picks up five years after the previous one, he will be using his own experience of the past few years to showcase the growth of his character. He said:

“The show doesn't pick up the day after we last saw it. It picks up five years later. And so in theory, these are characters who have all lived five years of life and all of the twists and turns that you take in the meantime.”
“So whether or not even those stories are necessarily on screen, there's just that little extra bit of life in there, which I think is… as an actor, it gives you an opportunity to bring whatever your own journey has been in that time and they get sort of a little longer in the tooth.”

Daredevil: Born Again will premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2025.
