Player 222's character arc in Squid Game, explored in depth

Jun-Hee is a complicated character who comes into the game with a secret motive and encounters her ex-boyfriend later by spotting him in the crowd. Her relationship with her ex-boyfriend is complex. Although she hates him for what he has done to her, deep inside she also cares about him and wants the best for him.

Jun-Hee's ex-boyfriend Myung-Gi is a popular YouTuber who gets involved in cryptocurrencies. Jun-Hee bought some Kimmycoins and lost huge amounts of money as it was revealed as a scam. She broke up with Myung-Gi afterward.

By that time, she was already pregnant with his child and later decided to keep it despite their discussion to terminate it. Therefore, this adds nuance to the character as Jun-hee is in the game to ensure a better life for the baby.

Jun-Hee is further portrayed as a strong character with the willpower and life skills to achieve what she desires. In an interview with Marie Claire, Jo-Yu-Ri was asked about an ideal happy ending for Jun-hee in Squid Game.

"For Jun-hee, it would not so much be about winning the game or being the finalist. We do the vote after every round, so maybe more people will vote for X so that Jun-hee can leave the game. Then maybe she could get her share of the reward money and live a happy life with her baby. I think that would be the happy ending for Jun-hee."
