CBS's ongoing and longest-running procedural, NCIS saw a key reveal about Pauley Perrette's Abby in Season 9.

The team's forensic expert Abby Sciuto's past was a mystery on the procedural, which saw some resolution after she found her biological brother in Season 9.

Abby's brother, Kyle Davis, was played by actor Daniel Louis Rivas, who is known for his performances in Adrenaline, Cherry, and Never Been Kissed.

More on Daniel Louis Rivas' career and his character in NCIS in our story.

What roles has NCIS star Daniel Louis Rivas played in his career so far?

NCIS star Daniel Louis Rivas is an accomplished actor, producer and painter, who had his first speaking role in the 1986 movie Sid and Nancy, featuring Gary Oldman.

His TV credits include Rizzoli and Isles, The It Factor: Los Angeles, New York Undercover, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and American Crime.

Rivas is also known for his movie performances, which include Altamont Now, Cherry, Shackles, Adrenaline, and Never Been Kissed. His first feature film as a lead actor was Junkie in 2012. The film was also his first project as a producer.

In addition to his career as an actor and producer, Rivas is also a painter whose works have been displayed in New York and Los Angeles.

What connection does Daniel Louis Rivas share with his on-screen sister in NCIS?

While Rivas had recurring and lead roles across many projects, he is best known for playing Kyle Davis, forensic expert Abby Sciuto's biological brother in NCIS. Interestingly, Rivas is also the ex-boyfriend of Pauley Perrette, the actress who played his sister Abby on NCIS.

In an interview with TV Guide, Pauley Perrette revealed how she was the one who was adamant about Rivas playing her biological brother on NCIS, and also helped him get the part. Discussing Rivas' casting, she noted:

"I've been saying for years, ever since they mentioned Abby had a brother, that I know the actor [Rivas] that has to play it."

She added:

"He was my boyfriend years ago, and we look so much alike. He has my same crazy eyes. People always thought that we were brother and sister. ... So, I started putting it on Twitter, and my followers started a huge Twitter campaign. And it worked!"

While their past connection and on-screen relationship was surely unusual, it made for great television and revealed a key mystery about Abby's past. Rivas' character would have furthered Abby's story had Perrette not quit the CBS procedural in Season 15.

Since Abby was given up for adoption after her birth, she did not know about her biological parents and family. However, in Season 9, she volunteers to donate her kidney, where her DNA matches one other person's, revealing her long-lost biological brother, Kyle Davis.

While Rivas appeared as Kyle only in two episodes of the procedural, his character added depth to Abby as she finally learned the truth about her past.
