The latest episode of Murder Under the Friday Night Lights Season 4 dives into the tragedy that deeply impacted the town of Sapulpa, Oklahoma in 1976.

For years, Murder Under the Friday Night Lights has been reflecting on some of the shocking high school football-related cases. This time it explores the murder of Sapulpa High School football coach Jerry Bailey by his assistant coach, Paul Reagor.

This goes back to January 1976, when two close pals and colleagues Jerry Bailey and Paul Reagor were nowhere to be found inside the high school. Their mysterious disappearance became a major concern for their community and soon investigators began to search for them.

One of the students informed that both coaches had left school together in Reagor’s car, and went missing right after that. Around 30 miles apart from the school, bloodied papers belonging to Bailey were found, indicating a possible foul play.

Murder Under the Friday Night Lights features a tragic murder case of a football coach

True-crime enthusiasts have gotten another chillin' murder case of a football coach named Jerry Bailey. This case from 1976 is highlighted in the latest episode of Murder Under the Friday Night Lights, in which the entire Sapulpa community was shattered to learn how Bailey was killed.

As mentioned above, Bailey and his colleague went missing together, and after a long search, the two were finally located. At first, they found the car with blood on it, and later the dead body of Jerry Bailey inside the vehicle's trunk.

As shared by Investigation Discover on Instagram, Murder Under the Friday Night Lights features several related individuals to the deceased coach. One of them says "It was Jerry Bailey's body".

As the episode continues, another man is heard describing the condition of Bailey's dead body:

"There were multiple wounds involved, which appeared to be stab wounds from a knife. The number of wounds to me would indicate anger. Extreme anger."

As explained in the Murder Under the Friday Night Lights episode, Bailey's "shirt was raised" as if he was trying to find out how many wounds he got. The Lion TV co-president Allison Corn described Bailey and Reagor's and later called it an "ultimate betrayal".

While Bailey was found dead in the car, Paul Reagor was found drenched in blood. He was eventually declared guilty of murdering Jerry Bailey and was given a life sentence after being charged with second-degree murder. The reason? Just personal and professional tensions between the two men.

Not only this, but the residents also highlighted racial tensions in the community, which weren't openly discussed during that time. The Murder Under the Friday Night Lights episode reflects how a man was killed by one of his close pals.

While talking about the episode, Corn also said:

"One of the great things about this series is that it allows us to explore how football and crime intersect with a whole host of other social issues. And this story certainly offered that opportunity."

The Lion TV co-president also explained that the true-crime series team was also interested in discovering how race relations and the Civil Rights Movement played a big role in the murder of football coach Jerry Bailey.
