Fans were enchanted to see the wedding pictures of Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi. The two have been dating since 2021, and are considered one of the fan-adored couples of the industry.
As shared on Bongiovi's Instagram account, the elegant wedding was held in Italy and was officiated by none other than Brown's Stranger Things co-star Matthew Modine. The actor played a morally ambiguous character Dr. Martin Brenner AKA Papa in the horror sci-fi.
As seen in Stranger Things Season 1, Brenner worked as the head and research scientist of Hawkins National Laboratory and later began experimenting on children living in Hawkins. This experiment began after Dr. Brenner found out a boy named Henry was born with special powers.
Those powers led Henry to kill his mother and sister, and this gave Dr. Brenner a chance to research his abilities. The scientist convinced the government to let him keep Henry, as he was able to block the powers through a special chip.
However, little did anyone know that Dr. Brenner planned to copy Henry's superpowers and began experimenting on children from the town. Henry was working as an assistant at the lab and tricked Eleven into removing his chip.
This allowed Henry to kill everyone except Papa and failed at eliminating Eleven, as she was the only one to have gained control. This happened in season 1 where we see Dr. Brenner's attempt to recapture Eleven who escaped from him.
Millie Bobby Brown's Stranger Things co-star officiated her wedding with Jake Bongiovi
From fiction to reality: Millie Bobby Brown's on-screen Papa led her special day with Jake Bongiovi, as the officiant for the dreamy wedding. Though Eleven doesn't have a great bond with Dr. Brenner or Papa, the actors have immense respect for each other in real life.
This was perfectly featured in their wedding photograph, shared by Bongiovi on his Instagram. Matthew Modine was on the stage with the couple, as Jake Bongiovi was reading the vows.
Brown's pictures had fans melting down, as they eagerly waited to see how the ceremony was held in May 2024. Following Bongiovi's post, Modine posted a lighthearted comment:
"Amazing. Who’s the old guy with a beard?? 🤪❤️🍀"
The actor is seen wearing a black jacket and pants with a white shirt during the ceremony. The Stranger Things actor also shared on his Instagram, a picture of his bracelet reading "PAPA" and thanked Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi in the caption.
Modine also put Good Day Sunshine, a song by The Beatles on his social media post, with a huge caption about friendship. His comment section is filled with fans asking if Papa will appear in Stranger Things Season 5, but we already saw him being shot in season 4, episode 8 titled Chapter Eight: Papa, in which Eleven bid farewell to her Papa after he's shot in the Nevada desert.
Can Matthew Modine's Papa return for Stranger Things Season 5?
Stranger Things enthusiasts know that death isn't always the end for a character, and it was proved when Sadie Sink's Max was assumed dead, but later revealed to have survived the injuries Vecna gave her.
Additionally, the actor himself suggested that there could be a redemption story for Dr. Brenner in Stranger Things Season 5, which could bring him back.
In an interview with Vulture, Matthew Modine mentioned certain points to highlight his doubts about Brenner's death saying:
"Three things are curious to me: How did he survive the Demogorgon [in season 1]? How did he survive One?"
The actor continued:
"And when Eleven tries to use her power against Dr. Brenner after blowing three guards in the air, he unflinchingly thwarts her and says, 'You didn't think it was going to be that easy, did you?'"
Modine explained that his character survived Demogorgon's attack, and encounter with Vecna, and even Eleven's superpowers when she tried to hurt him. Does that mean Dr. Brenner also has superpowers? Well, that's currently unknown.
However, the actors also mentioned his great experience working with the Duffer brothers and Millie Bobby Brown. Matthew Modine doesn't believe his character is dead, but that will only be uncovered after the last season comes out.
